No more MRT physical stored value ticket?
your advice on my problem much appreciated: i have good impression of MRT until 17 February 2025, i lost my physical stored value ticket card and went to an MRT ticket counter to buy a new one, the female counter staff asked if i had a bank account (for top up?)and that i had to download the MRT app and register for use instead. It seems MRT has stopped use of physical stored value card once and for all, or at least she did not sell the stored value ticket to me (that's my understanding as she could barely speak english, and i barely speak Thai). In order not to keep the long queue behind me waiting, i left the queue, went to buy a single trip ticket, went home, and tried to figure out how to register. It turned out that i can't as i do not have any one of the three documents that registion requires: work permit, a Thai ID card (citizen or foreigner) or driving licence. i only have a foreign passport and stay in Thailand with one year visa, but registration does not include this option! i bet there are many foreigners including tourists in same odd situation like me: no work permit, no driving licence, no Thai ID, well, immigration allow them stay visa exempt or visa extension few months to one year, is it incovenient to require them queueing up to buy single use ticket every time? isn't it queueing time better spent by them for shopping and consumption for Thailand economy? (actually previously i also forced to give up TRUE card renewal as there is no passport registration option, same for LINEPAY, but TRUE and LINEPAY not as important as not having an MRT stored value card) Then on 20 February, i tried to phone the MRT Information Service Centre 0-2624-5200, on and off for more than half an hour in total but always told customer service officer was too busy, once i waited 20minutes continuously but no one answered call. i knew from previous experience with TRUE is that they just tell you they are sorry but sorry not able to change policy, but i just wish to clarify MRT no longer issue physical stored value ticket and that passengers can only use the virtual ticket (the app), or buy single use ticket each time. i really hope i can rebuild my goodwill pretty soon -

If you voted for Trump...
IIRC a Stanford study showed MAGAS were 3-4 points lower than the average IQ in America. How about you publish the study that says Democrats are 2-5 points lower, or is that just one of your BS claims? -

Updates and events in the War in Ukraine 2025
Israel didn't do that. Hence the Israeli PM's gift to the American President of a golden pager. I am aware of newspaper reports trying to piece together a story based on unnamed sources and conjecture. The pagers didn't wipe out Hezbollah. 12-30 people were killed. 1500 Hezbollah members were injured, 4000 civilians injured, including kids. Most injuries were facial, and not associated with male sexual organs as you think. The Russian MOD said, as of November 2023, there were 300 trained drone pilots https://www.understandingwar.org/backgprounder/russian-efforts-centralize-drone-units-may-degrade-russian-drone-operations Say, by the end of 2024, that was about 500. At least a dozen drone pilots have been put permanently out of action, creating a drag of Russian resources, military and medical, plus impacts on moral. We don't know what percentage of drone pilots require to use FPV goggles. Many will use phones, even phones fitted with the cardboard google attachments. Unlike the pagers, the explosions in the goggles probably could only be activated when they are used. In your efforts to praise the Russians while denigrating the Ukrainians, you failed to realise it could only have been a short term effect. The audacious Israeli/other party effort was a sledge hammer indiscriminate effort against a paramilitary grouping; surely you are not equating the Russian Army with a rag tag militia? The Ukrainian operation (there are few details, so the number of casualties could be higher) appears much more precise, targeting special forces only who are not eaily replaced. Israel had no control where the 16,000 pagers went to (of which 3000-4000 exploded, so about 75% failed to detonate). Ukraine was likely targeting about 100-150 specialist drone operators, who likely were using shared equipment). Its not really comparable. The pager plot is something that likely can never be repeated. Somewhat comparable, but in the 1980s, the British government had penetrated the car manufacturing supply chain to such an extent that every single new car sold in Northern Ireland was bugged. -

Tips for first time tourists, especially western teenage girls
Any advice will inevitably be subjective and, in any event, 19 year olds will do what 19 year olds will do. Applying basic commonsense to safety is a pre-requisite and that includes being aware of your surroundings and not putting yourself (or your valuables) at risk. The specifics of sim cards, transport and accommodation will happen quite naturally. I always get sim cards for my daughter just to avoid her paying over the top at the airport. The airport has a whole host of sim card desks so it is a good backstop. Suvarnabhumi airport taxi system is OK and I think you pay a surcharge of 50 Baht if booking at the taxi desk. Plan B, if the visitors are confident enough they can exit through gate 8 at departures, cross the road and pickup a taxi that has dropped off departing passengers. Personally I only take those who use the meter - then I tip well. The drivers are often looking for Pattaya fares and one quoted me 300 Baht to go to Lat Krabang....I know it is c. 65 Baht on the meter. When he came down to 200 Baht I told him he had missed his chance; I took the next taxi (who did use the meter) and it was 68 Baht. I paid 150 Baht.........just an example. After that, use BOLT the cars are better and the drivers more professional. Other specific advice would depend on their itinerary. -
