Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi Airport for just 76 Baht !

Hello Viewers!

Well yesterday i went to say goodbye to a good friend of mine at the Airport ( a tearful and an emotional moment viewers...)

As usual i took the " cool train " from Pattaya's beautiful Railway Station at 14.20 ( 31 baht ) and got off the train at Phaya Thai in Bangkok. Then just a gentle stroll and an escalator to the Airport Link Train ( 45 baht ) and within 20 minutes i was in the Airport! Total cost of 76 Baht!

If you are flying out in the evening ( 21.00 onwards ) then don't get " ripped off " on Bells Service coaches for 250 baht when you have this far better option of not only a fraction of the cost but also such fabulous scenery en route viewers!

Happy Travelling Viewers!!

Your friendly " Thai Visa " friend.......wub.png x

Why did you go all the way to Pattaya Thai? You could have switched at Lad Krabang or Asoke/New Petburi road. That might have saved you a few baht more ;) (plus some time).

The airport bus from Jomtien is now 130.

I agree that the bell service is pretty much a ripoff and I hate the demand for cc bookings.

A good question.....

I know i could of switched at one of the other stations ( well spotted old chap..) but i thought that if you were travelling to the Airport with quite a bit of luggage then the Phaya Thai was very convenient and wouldn't be a struggle with too much " buggering about " ( kind respect )

The Jomtien bus is excellent value at 130 baht ( although not cheap for Thailand may i add - a more realistic cost should be around 50 baht max...) but i just love travelling by train and i couldn't stand 1 hour & 30 minutes of " air con " ...( Mind you on arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport it was so cold you needed to be dressed for " Ice Station Zebra " ( most unpleasant may i add...)

I stopped using Bell because I won't book a bus 8,000 miles from my home in a foreign country using one of my credit cards. Just too many potential downsides.

I like the travel method but I wouldn't do it if I were flying out. Too many hours of being in the heat and getting sweaty before sitting on a long flight back home.

76 Baht vs. 134 Baht from Jomtien? I would still prefer the bus from Jomtien rolleyes.gif

Yes-- Bell Bus-

pick -up at hotel---no worries lugging around cases---cant see how the train is cheaper unless you walk and carry your own luggage to the station---to save a few baht---no thanks. wacko.png

Have paid online with credit card for fares every time---from Airport to -Pattaya- Hua Hin--Cha Am and vise verca--no problems .

I agree on the pleasure of leisurely travel by train in Thailand and use trains regularly. But as GK pointed out, it is no fun to be sweaty when you have a long ride. I also agree that the airport bus from Jomtien is somewhat overpriced. No idea if 50 baht would do but I do not see why it 130 from Jomtien to the airport while the same about the same distance to BKK is less.

How is the return trip from the airport?

134 Baht from airport to Jomtien (usual extra stops at North and Central).

Under 2h down to about 1:30h (as far as one can predict).

Well airconditioned, not freezing cold.

Thanks Canary, we can always count on you to suggest a cost effective, yet pleasant way to travel in this beautiful country.

Yes but Gentlemen ( Or ladies..... ) you are forgetting one important thing that is absolutely " critical " - If you take the Train then when you get off at Phaya Thai you can enjoy " a rather delicious 9 Baht KFC Ice cream " enroute...

Perhaps it's just enough to " clinch the deal " .......???

Nice thread.

How busy was the train? The Afternoon service used to get rammed between Sri Racha and Chonburi then steadily empty en route to BKK. Many fond memories of that slow rattle and creak up to BKK, finally squeezing off the train at Makkasan or Asoke in perfect time to check in the hotel, then onwards for Sukhumwit Nights...

I'm going back a while mind you, when the bus service was dreadful; an awful white knuckle ride up the bumpy road, serious crashes were fairly frequent. If one could get a good seat on the train near the bog, a bag full of ale, would make a far nicer alternative given the nice early evening arrival time in Lower Suk.....

I think to be fair you should state the SRT train duration.

Same for me. Booked with a CC from both the U.K. and from within Thailand. Never had a problem.

Good service for me too to be picked up from the hotel / condo. No hassle whatsoever.

No--Bell Bus

Took them once. After pick up at Diana Inn 2 hours running all over Pattaya picking up people. Another hour sitting at north bus station. 4 hours to Bangkok because driver caused an accident and we all had to transfer to another bus.

7 hours. I felt like I could have walked quicker.

Crapiest service ever. And no one said sorry for the delay.

Still no answer on this. Pointless thread without it. It's not all about the money. Time is a factor too.

The journey by train takes 3 hours and 40 minutes, apparently,.. and that's just the Bangkok - Pattaya leg.

Quicker than the bell bus I took once but think I'll stick to the airport bus and the BTS link from there. The train would have some good views possibly. I checked it out on Google maps. But the train itself look torture. Is it left over from 1945 Thailand to Burma line? 555

Thanks for he info...

The Pattaya to Bangkok train is " fabulous " viewers! The scenery is wonderful ( 31 baht ) Life is not about the speed of journey or the price but the most " pleasant and enjoyable " way to get from A to B. I am obviously a lot more laid back than most of our viewers and having spent 51 years in this world and have never been in a rush to go anywhere.( I don't wear a watch either )

Farang Jaidee " as chilled as ice " ......thumbsup.gif

I don't a watch either since I got a mobile phone 16+ years ago and found that had a clock.

At 62 years young the length of time it takes to get to a destination is a factor to be considered. I would like to arrive before my time is up.
