What is this with the VIP business in Phuket.? So many signs are cropping up such as reserved parking for ladies or special customers at the Central Festival and several other places. This morning I noticed signs saying Privileged Parking right by the side of the emergency entrance to the Bangkok Phuket Hospital. What do they mean by it? Surely anyone who needs urgent medical care should be considered a "privileged" person. But in this case they clearly mean that you have got to be a big shot in Phuket - a strange attitude on the part of a hospital who should treat everyone equally. If differentiation must be made then it should be on the basis of urgency of medical care required. What do you think?

Is it humanly indecent to give better parking to people who are more likely to spend a big wad of cash, considering the other patients just use the normal parking ?

Medical emergencies are delivered/dropped off at the emergency entrance, not at the VIP parking lot.

OP makes no sense at all.

As a regular at that hospital a few comments.:

I've never been in the main car park, I always get dropped off at the main door where I am treated as a special guest. Car doors are opened for me, I get friendly greetings from the staff always positioned there, and am escorted through to the reception area.

If an emergency patient, for some strange reason, goes directly to the car park, there are golf carts continually circulating to bring people to the front door.

Once, while waiting for pickup at the front door, I asked one of the guys about all the flash cars parked nearby. I suggested they belonged to doctors, but he just smiled and shook his head.

I always park in privileged parking spots because it's the same as any other spot. As for the individual who wanted to park there, i beg to differ but to me he doesn't seem to have any privileges since i took his parking spot.

Besides i am not VIP but i was able to read this 'comment'.

Why should they spend more cash than others. Surely it depends on the treatment. At the first bungy jump in Phuket (Patong) I saw Thai dudes drive up in their fancy Benzs & demand to pay half price because they were Thai & guess what, the staff obliged.

What Old Croc said about being dropped off is quite true & applies to all the hospitals here in terms of at least getting help out of the car & wheelchair if needed.

+1

Doctors have to park their cars in the opposite parking garage. Till last year it was fine for regulars to park there also but not more.

At the Central Festivial mall in Phuket I was not allowed to park in the lady's only parking area....

Even though I had wife and two Daughters in the car,

Parking garage was maxed out so I drove around the corner,

Wife got in drivers seat I walkwd to the mall and they parked in the lady parking space....

What a bleeping joke,,,,

They also have the VIP parking there as well, all BMW type fancy smanshy cars.....

The reason for that lady parking is that women were being bullied out of parking spots.

My wife had a man edge his pick up in while she was trying to park and he threatened her and asked her what she going to do about it.

Supposedly it was happening that much the lady parking was established.

Some thai men are pigs.

Also there's was quite often an attendant there when they first started doing it to guide them in, better to try and keep them grouped somewhere for their safety and others!!

Seen it in the larger shopping mall car parks all over Thailand.
