February 2, 201511 yr Author good question. I am wondering if it would be easier than getting her into America. I think live there but knowing both options would be great.

February 6, 201511 yr How will she get to Mexico ? is there a flight there that does not go thru the USA where she might need a visa ? And maybe more important for her , do thy have Thai food in Mexico ?
February 6, 201511 yr yes there are flights that do not go through the USA. One of the routes is through Paris. BKK to CDG to MEX. Another is through Amsterdam, BKK AMS MEX. Old Thai visa thread on the visa topic. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/138095-difficulty-of-mexico-visa-for-thai/
February 7, 201511 yr Save your time. I spent 10 years there living at Lake Chapala and wish I had skipped it and come straight to Thailand . Why on earth would you spend ten years in such a barren place as Chapala? And there are some beautiful places farther south, and even nearby, such as Santa Maria del Oro.
