My friend (no, it's not me!) is getting divorced very soon,

Will his marriage visa become invalid immediately? (I might be asking a question to which there is an obvious answer, but TIT!).

I think that he is about 4 months into his current marriage visa. Also, he has two kids from the marriage.

Yes, it will become invalid the same day he gets his divorce. But at that day he can get an extension based on his children, if he will continue to take care of the children ( a few days a week).

Best if he contacts immigration beforehand to check which documents his immigration office requires.

As above 4 months stay means he is on an extension of stay rather than a 90 day visa entry so extension is subject to end when reason for it being issued ends.
