Vietnamese Motorbike license: Need to change

Hi everyone!

Im moving from Vietnam to BKK later this year and have a Vietnamese motorbike license. Ive tried to find out but am still not sure of the following:

1. Im Australian, but dont have an Oz license. Can I transfer the Viet one to a Thai one?

2. OR is it easier to do the motorbike license from scratch in BKK?

Don't know about converting a Vietnamese licence to a Thai licence but doing it from scratch is not difficult, just tedious. It depends also which DLT you would be doing your test in. I did mine in Pattaya which was not too bad.

Just in case you weren't aware of it the Vietnamese license is valid in Thailand as part of the agreement betweent the ASEAN countries. You are probably good at least up until the expiration date of your Viet license.

It's Good idea to get the Thai one ASAP anyway.

While you are there, also get the international license - or permit how they call it, because in some places they grasp to not having one it as a last excuse to issue you a ticket.
