Where to find peanut oil

Featured Replies

Preferably 15-20 liter tins. Makro doesn't have it, nor my local Big C.

Foodland? They stock articles which are not used by Thais , I just asked Thai people at my working place about peanut oil, and they don't know it.

^^^Okay, thanks. I don't think we have a Foodland in Phuket? The Mrs. has never seen it either.

BTW. What happened to Patong Deli?

No Foodland yet in Phuket.

Patong Deli still survives, I think. For sure he is struggling against BigC, at least Villa Market gave up very quickly in Patong so he still has that farang niche market.

I've been on the lookout for it for years in Bangkok and Pattaya, but no luck. Had some in the mid90s, but that was the last time I saw it. Would love to get some for my home-made peanut butter. Malaysia seems to grow a lot of peanuts, so maybe this situation might change if it makes peanut oil.

Looking at Alibaba, and a few other giants, it appears that Thailand exports all of it's peanut oil. It’s made here; you just have to buy it by the metric ton for about 400USD. One metric ton of oil is about 280 US gallons. I need 5 gallons. Anyone need 275 gallons?smile.png

Drove by Patong Deli today. I was watching out for 473 motorbikes as we passed, so didn't get a good look. But, it appeared to be closed and empty. Anyone been there recently?
