Lite Beer Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Japanese guide found drowned near Patong, police speculate ‘heartbreak suicide’Eakkapop Thongtub PHUKET: Awaiting the results of an autopsy, investigators have already written off the death of a Japanese man found off the coast of Kalim Beach as a suicide by drowning. At 1.30pm today (February 14) Patong police were alerted that a fisherman had discovered the body of an Asian man in the water, about 50 metres from the rocky coastline, 3-4 kilometres from Patong at a spot known mostly only by local fisherman, near Soi Phrabaramee 9 in Kalim. From the surface of the water, investigators could see clearly the body underwater, both of its hands were “stuck firmly to rocks, with its feet pointing towards the sky”.The body was retrieved and transported to Patong Hospital. Initial examinations found no sign of foul play. The body was thought to have been dead for 6-8 hours. On the rocks, nearby, neatly folded clothes – grey shirt, trowsers and yellow shoes – were found and presumed to belong to the victim, who was identified by a document that was slipped inside a clothes pocket. The document contained the name of a tour company in Phuket Town, and the name Mr Hiroshi Yoshiki, 34, a Japanese national whose occupation as a tour guide was also listed in the document, police said.Police speculated that the man had most likely committed suicide due to a “Valentine’s Day heartbreak” or “some other personal problem”, though at this point it is not clear what evidence led them to such a swift conclusion, other than today being Valentine’s Day. casualbiker Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Wow... these Phuket police are mastermind! 1
hansgruber Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Suicide by drowning? In a bay that's calm at this time of year? Sounds plausible.
Popular Post NeverSure Posted February 14, 2015 Popular Post Posted February 14, 2015 We need a verb "suicided" as in "Someone suicided him." 7
rabid old goat Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 what type of glue was use to stick the hands to the rocks? octopus glue? grouper glue? pearl glue? contraband glue? lobster glue?
Anthony5 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Hold on a little guys, the Koh Tao conspiracy brigade will be here soon to analyze the case, and give a binding verdict before midnight today. 1
NamKangMan Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 We need a verb "suicided" as in "Someone suicided him." Yes. The BiB "suicided him" with the stroke of a pen.
NeilSA1 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 the body looks weird, almost as if the head was severed from the body
chooka Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Wow... these Phuket police are mastermind!yep just by looking at the body they could tell he was heart broken and thus decided to end it. 1
ScarpoFongness4U Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 This just in: The word "lynching" has been stricken from all Thailand...
Bocking Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Unbelievable! Not the sad death, suicide or by other means, but the immediate police response to it. ''Police speculated that the man had most likely committed suicide due to a “Valentine’s Day heartbreak” or “some other personal problem”, though at this point it is not clear what evidence led them to such a swift conclusion, other than today being Valentine’s Day##. For the love of all that is good, will somebody upstairs at Police HQ please inform all officers to state only the minimum known FACTS about any death, suspicious or otherwise, and NOT to speculate. Having made the initial statement, evidence will now be collected to support the only open theory, thus ignoring truth but saving face for the officer. #Thainess 101 2
FireMedic Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 the body looks weird, almost as if the head was severed from the body Yes it does look like that.....6-8 hours of decomp wouldn't make the head come off.....they wrapped it up separately from the body.
Popular Post Gunna Posted February 15, 2015 Popular Post Posted February 15, 2015 Wow... these Phuket police are mastermind!yep just by looking at the body they could tell he was heart broken and thus decided to end it. Obvious really - if the heart has stopped beating, it must be broken 3
rethaier Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 LOS = Land Of Speculation. No matter how determined, I would be surprised by anyone who upon taking the last breath and dying could continue holding a rock. Given that upon death the muscles relax this is just illogical.

The weirdest thing is that some posters seem to have x-ray vision as the photos in the OP show a tightly wrapped body. If speculations are going to be made about decapitation why not include that the victims arms seem to have been amputated also? Can't see them in the pictures with my non-x-ray vision.

laislica Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 About someone gave a polite RIP for the poor chap, whatever the cause a very sad effect!
kingalfred Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Police "speculated a likely valentine day heartbreak!"Something Police are good at."speculating" and then turning it into "facts" and a verdict promptly afterwards
JetsetBkk Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 About someone gave a polite RIP for the poor chap, whatever the cause a very sad effect! Allow me: RIP poor Japanese guy, and I hope your friends or relatives don't read the utter garbage written my the usual idiots on this forum. 2
watcharacters Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 the body looks weird, almost as if the head was severed from the body I initially thought the same thing but upon closer examination, I think it's just some folded linen used to wrap the body. Unfortunate to die at only 34 years regardless of the cause.
Doc46 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 An other speculation,All lip service and no evidence
Torrens54 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 You've all missed the obvious/usual suspects. What about the BURMESE? Surely they should at least be considered as having had something to do with this, just ask any self respecting Thai, they'll tell you!
