Any long timers care to point out the pro's and con's of each ?

no!

Pro's:

- No street dogs

- punctual garbage disposal service

- no streetvendors & sales ppl.

- Kids can play freely on the street, and cycle around without concern.

- Comming home at nighttime is much more secure.

Con's:

- pay 100 Baht a wah a month.

note: dont think that a secured village is safer for theft, it isn't. in both cases you have to secure your home yourself.
