Agriculture Ministry celebrates successful promotion of locally-made fertilisers in Ratchaburi

RATCHABURI, 6 March 2015 (NNT) - Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Pitipong Phuengbun Na Ayutthaya has presided over a celebration of the Department of Agricultural Extension’s successful campaign to promote the use of locally-made fertilizers in Ratchaburi province.

The campaign was launched in response to the National Council for Peace and Order’s policy to increase productivity and reduce costs for farmers across the country. The scheme consists of two activities, namely efficient use of chemical fertilizers, and use of locally-made organic fertilizers.

The program has reportedly enjoyed overwhelming success. The total volume of natural fertilizers produced by agriculturists countrywide between August 2014 and March 2015 has been recorded at 474,000 tons, surpassing the Department of Agricultural Extension’s target of 250,000 tons.

Apart from the celebration, the event provides an educational exhibition on the making of non-chemical fertilizers to enable participants to apply the knowledge to their farming.
