Well it isn't at my place 10 km east of Pattaya, aqnd it also wasn't available this evening on Thepprasit road in Jomtien.

Hardly to call those places the boonies, don't you agree?

I thought the Govt. haven't even held the auctions for the licences yet, so how True have 4G?? I might have missed it though?!

No, it hasn't been officially approved yet but the operators seem to be rolling it out and testing it just about everywhere - or like Truemove H are virtually claiming nationwide coverage.

Although in saying that, I have 4G in Hua Hin via Dtac but the speed is pretty much the same speed as it was on 3G although upload speed is a little quicker.

I think the network operators are promoting heavily now to get as many punters on board as they can, in order to put pressure on the govt to speed the process for introducing 4G.

I read a story a few weeks back that said the govt was actually reconsidering whether or not to have 4G at all right now. I think if the network operators have lots of customers already signed up or using a 'test' service, it makes it more difficult for the govt to go back on or delay introducing 4G any longer.

I've been spending a bit of time in the area around the View Talay 1 and 2 bulidings (on Thappraya road on either side of Thepprasit) the past couple weeks and have had the LTE signal icon on my mobile phone. Occasionally I'll get the 3G or H icon, but vast majority of the time it's showing LTE.

So, if the operators can already use 4G without Govt. licences, why would they need to pay lots of money for licences??

my wife works in a competitive company !

4G is not yet auctionised and therefore not licensed !!

So all this is only bullshit and lie !!!

There is no NO 4G in Thailand available !!

you can upgrade software to be a little bit faster , and show on mobile 4G - but isn't real G4;

Just marketing and lies !!

( My wife work in one of this companies - upgrade nation wide to G4 will be a huge work

and amount of money !! old HW can't handle fast G4 ! I'm an It engineer, or I stupid ? );

So very true. And when I take a road trip from Krabi to Nakhon si Thammarat, there are plenty of places where there is no signal at all. AIS, TRUE and 3BB all still have a LONG way to go.coffee1.gif

I just came back from Hua Hin, got 4G almost on the whole way back to Bangkok, and Bangkok is well-deserved.

4G works fine, it is not everywhere but it is real LTE, I get 40mbit down and 15mbit up in Bangna area.

Everytime I make a phone call, my phone switches back to 3G. I asked one of the customer service guy at True and he said that 4G is exclusively used for data. Maybe this is the reason why they need to auction more Mhz, is to allow calls on 2100 Mhz as well as the bandwidth is too limited!

Anyway, I am a happy camper now, as the speed is really fast!

Unless your Handset and Mobile Operator both support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) the network will always be forced to hand-off to another technology with voice-bearing ability (like GSM), as LTE is a data packet only technology.

Though I'm surprised that DTAC and TRUE have been able to time-splice all the multiple technologies on 2100.

I get true 4g from lake marpachon to Jomtien with no issues. You do need to activate 4g once by dialing the code.

When I get it at other locations, I assume it is activated, not?

I live in BackofBeyondland, between Khon Kaen & Chaiyaphum, and it's even working up here, following pretty accurately the map. Now the signal is not as robust as the HSPA signal, so I suspect not all the POP's are upgraded yet. But if I lock the phone to LTE I can get a signal all the way into KK with a gap of about 6km.

In an unlocked state, the phone will switch pretty frequently between H+ and LTE due to the HSPA signal strength

I've posted a couple of signal analyzer screenshots from the same location (more accurately, sat on my couch) minutes apart to show the difference in signal strengths

I was in Kuchinarai, Kalasin Province, last night with a friend from Khon Kaen, he has a 4G phone and was amazed he was getting 4G connectivity on True, of over 30mbps.

Indeed, the band is rather crowded in TH

Yes there is 4G and no it's not bullshit.

AIS has little or no unused spectrum they can use for 4G at 1900/2100Mhz from what I have read. True and Dtac do which they legally purchased and are legally licensed to use as far as I know. I don't think there is a distinction what protocol they can use when they buy spectrum. They own that spectrum and can use 3G, 4G, whatever.

The upcoming auction is for the spectrum around 2300 and 2600Mhz I believe which are the newer 4G frequencies. So AIS is waiting for that.

Pretty much all 4G phones can use the 1900Mhz/2100Mhz band. A lot cannot do 2300/2600. Especially phones designed only for the Asian market. That will gradually change. A higher end phone like Galaxy S5 has all the frequencies. If you are looking for a global 4G phone that or the new S6 would be my first choice.

I've had 4G LTE from truemoveh for the last 3 years.

I've had speeds up to 40 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up.

Since the last 3 weeks I have no more LTE. My phone just shows 4G iso 4G LTE.

Now I only have 4G, 12 Mbps down and 4.5 Mbps up.

The APN settings have not changed.

I called them, they have no clue.

I visited a true shop, they have no clue but changed my postpaid sim.

This has happened once before but LTE came back after 1 week.

Anyone else with the same issue?
