Get VLC player on the iPad.

Download what you want to watch to your PC/laptop - then connect iPad to it and transfer to the VLC app. Takes only a few moments. This is one way of doing it.

Good idea but he has no laptop or pc. :)

Tell hime to get Box Player HD from app store if it hasn't already been removed by Apple.

Once downloaded go to Settings>Contact Us>(then send the email that is there. Complete with the code contained therein).

After 24 hours it will be unlocked.

After that, good to go.

The "Sucker born every minute" method is to purchase all of your Music and Movies/Shows direct via iTunes app.

A second sucker method is to always maintain an as-needed Internet Connection over WiFi or Mobile Internet and stream live via html5 or special streaming app.

The "not a Sucker" methods usually involve learning the odd method to put material directly on your iPad for later viewing (even without Internet Access) by downloading desired material directly the storage space of certain apps (and hoping those apps don't get pulled from the app store -- still need the updates).

Thought the primary method is to have an actual PC and use it to download compatible material for transfer and playback on an iPad.

How about a real answer, yes you can. you need to download an app called Azul from the App Store, then use the tutorial it has a few links.

There's a line we're not supposed to cross on the tech forums. Apple certainly isn't making it easier.

And trying to do everything with only an iPad as your tool to select, download, store, make available for easy future playback is sometimes tricky.

This is a bit off topic but I just wondered if it's possible to start a thread using only your iPhone? If anyone knows how please can you help me.
