Prayut's 'restart' warning was meant for CDC, drafter Jade says
THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- IF THE PUBLIC rejects the new charter, then Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has the right to begin a new drafting process, Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) deputy chairwoman Nareewan Chintakanond said yesterday.

Prayut said on Monday that if the general public rejected the charter, then the drafting process would have to start all over again. Nareewan pointed out that this was clearly stated in the provisional charter currently being used.

Nareewan said Prayut was simply being logical when he said this and it was not an attempt to prevent politicians or political groups from expressing their views on the charter. She said she believed that politicians are not happy with the new constitution because it is clipping their wings.

The deputy chairwoman said she was not worried about the mounting opposition against the CDC and the draft charter. She said she did not consider it pressure at all.

Jade Donavanik, a CDC member, said Prayut's announcement was a signal to the charter drafters to stop fighting and bring their quarrels to an end.

However, Jade added that he believed the debates and even quarrels within the CDC were part of a democratic system.

"However, Jade added that he believed the debates and even quarrels within the CDC were part of a democratic system."

If they all agreed on everything, the document would then be truly worthless. Much of the future credibility of Thailand is associated with this document.

If there is pressure mounting from the public to reject the CDC , they need to look closely at this document , it is of no use the CDC hiding behind their B/S they know the people will reject it on several grounds , what the CDC needs to do is what the People want not what they want , jobs for the boys, if P.M. Prayut -O extends the restart and deadlines this will mean the Junta in control well into 2017 , get my drift.coffee1.gif

Until the next coup.......
