I have 1,000,000 baht in a fixed term (11 months) account with Bangkok Bank. Can I use this to satisfy Thai Immigration regarding the 800,000 baht I need to renew my Retirement Visa.

If it is a standard fixed term account that allows withdrawals without delay or penalty other than loss of interest you can use it to apply for your extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon retirement,

You need a letter from the bank confirming your balance and copies of your updated bank book to prove the money has been in the bank for 3 months.

I think you are wrong. I can recall posts of people using fixed term accounts in Phuket.

A fixed deposit account was allowed last year in Phuket for my extension of stay for retirement.

They probably will want the bank book updated on the day.

Showing the same balance as the bank letter.

Khon Kaen do so I had to deposit 1,000 Baht to update the book.

When the bank writes the letter they have to update your bank book.

Thus.... the only system is a bank account with 800K and that comply with the Retirement visa regs?

2. The financial requirements for an extension of stay based on retirement can be met by

A. Having 800,000 Bht in a Thai bank.

B. Having a letter/affidavit from ones Embassy confirming an income of 65,000/month

OR

C. A combination of A+B totaling 800.000 Bht

At my Bangkok Bank branch I hand over savings account bank book when asking for the manager's letter and they always update it before writing the letter.

Doesn't your bank have those machines you can shove your book in to update?

The machine will not do an update unless there has been a transaction since the last update. To get an update without making a deposit you have to go in the bank and ask for an update. They can do a forced update with a few keystrokes..
