I would like to purchase a bottle of methlyated spirits. But my better half has never heard of it ,and oant can find it in her thai / falang dictionary.

I dont drink ithe stuff, but my late father always asked for a cold one when he purchased one.lol

Has any body a translation or an idea where i can obtain a bottle in Bangkok ? Please let me know .

sorry for my ignorant .. methyl alcohol u can find it from the chemical stuff when u want to kill unwanted grass /weed/plant , and also a dissolving solution for colour.

BTW if u mean a booz's brand name = Methylated , i have no idea then .... no TH word can explain .. it just like a specific brand name

Methylated spirits (also called denatured alcohol or surgical spirits) is ethyl alcohol to which a poisonous substance such as methanol (10%) has been added to prevent you drinking it. Can be used as a solvent (ตัวทำละลาย) for cleaning etc.

This Thai page from Wikipedia has a definition of meths: "เมทานอลยังใช้ผสมเอทานอล เพื่อมิให้สามารถรับประทานได้ (denatured alcohol)" - something like "Methanol mixed with ethanol to prevent you drinking it".
