reduce rice calories by 50%

Featured Replies

"What we did is cook the rice as you normally do, but when the water is boiling, before adding the raw rice, we added coconut oil—about 3 percent of the weight of the rice you're going to cook," said Sudhair James, who presented his preliminary research at National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS) on Monday. "After it was ready, we let it cool in the refrigerator for about 12 hours. That's it."

First of all it is nonsense, 50% resistant starch would make you fart like nothing you have ever seen before.

Second alone the idea to mess with good food so you can eat more of it without getting the nutrition of it is immoral. People are still starving, rice production damage nature and produce tons of CO2.

How about just eating 50% less rice if you want 50% less calories from rice?

if I could buy rice that was 50% less calories I would if there were no side effects !

You eat to enjoy it and feel full , I do not think you will eat 2x as much.....

But if I have to do this and that and then wait 12 hours to eat it , well that is not going to happen !

I don't think there is much CO2 produced in the rice production in my village, and what about the CO2 absorbed, by rice production, I'm sure it absorbs more than is used in production.

Rice is often made with massive amounts of fertilizer. Fertilizer is made from oil. The CO2 that is absorbed at the production is released again when you eat it and when they burn the remaining plant.

Of course if they work organic very little CO2 is produced (just transport and cleaning).

I think my dad would not agree with you.. fertilizer is often made from phosphates.. not oil. My dad worked at an fertiliser plant as head of R&D only times oil were used to coat the product so it would not produce as much "dust"

yes but the Ammonium Nitrate is based on oil

yes but the Ammonium Nitrate is based on oil

But your wrong stating it is made from oil.. that is just not the case.

No it is not made from oil....direct. If I recall right.

H2 is made from the oil. H2 is with N2 from the air is made to NH3 which is than joined with NO3 to NH4NO3 (+/- some mistakes).

Which is the most common fertilizer (I think).

Not being a specialist on it.....Just recalling that some claim that the Bio-Diesel or Alcohol based Gasoline is fake because the production of the fertilizer uses so much oil that at the end there isn't much benefit.

But increased inflammation of my arteries by 100% LOL

Thanks but no thanks !
