Henderson
Hello all, Is it possible to modify a side by side (i.e. Polaris RZR) to fit Thai regulation and drive it on roads of Phangan & Samui? If possible, who would be the right person to contact to make these modifications to the vehicle? Thx in advance!
Neilly
I have seen them on hills being rented out...but not sure they are legal for the roads here...or could be made so as they'd have to pass emission tests etc
Rooo
Not legal. BIB love them.

Henderson
Thank you very much for your replies, I guess a Beach Buggy is the way to go? I saw some for sale with plates so I assume they are road legal

Having plated doesn't mean they are legal or registered. Thye used to have quads running around for a while too, not legal.
notmyself
Salengs are also illegal but the cops just turn a blind eye. Quad bikes etc. are a definite no no.
Henderson
The idea is not to drive on the beaches, it's just a replacement for a car or bike (which I personally find to be very dangerous in these roads), no crazy driving is intended, just fun I guess a standard 4x4 is the only option left, too bad cuz in other countries, with the right modifications the side by side are allowed to be driven on road. Popular Post samuijimmy
Go way up the top of Soi 5 Maenam, there are a whole bunch of them up there, to rent.... turn left at the top and then a few meters on left... Back roads are the best place for them... but it's going to be very dusty, until we get some rain! Definitely not something to try using on any of the beaches...
