Kanchanaburi:- A Myanmar man and a five-year-old Thai boy drowned in the the Srinagarind Dam’s reservoir while celebrating Songkran Monday, police said.

Pol Lt Suriya Kaewdamrong, an officer from Srisawat police station, said the Myanmar drowned in the Srinagarind Dam’s reservoir early Monday.

Suriya said the man, was identified only as Jeng, 22, was a Myanmar worker from Pathum Thani’s Lamlukka district. He visited the dam with relatives to celebrate Songkran.

His relatives told police that Jeng drank and then swam in the reservoir and disappeared at about 0:30am Monday.

His relatives called for help from rescuers who searched and found the body in the reservoir at 3 pm.

Suriya was alerted of the accident at 4:30 pm and he rushed to the scene with a doctor from the Tha Kradan Hospital.

The doctor did not find any trace of foul play on his body. The doctor concluded that the man drowned and died about ten hours earlier. The body was released to the relatives for a religious rite.

In the second incident, the boy was found at the bottom of the reservoir at Prae Phet Fah resort in Tambon Tha Kradan at noon Monday, police said.

The resort was about 3 kilometres away from the spot the Myanmar man drowned.

The boy came from Sing Buri to stay on a rafted bungalow with the family. Rescuers spent about ten minutes to locate him under water.

The boy was unconscious and rescuers rushed him to the Tha Kradan Hospital which forwarded him to the Phahol Phayuhasena Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His parents alerted the resort that their son disappeared and rescues searched until found him under the water.

Why try to find fault in everything that is reported?

The doctor's opinion was at that stage was just an estimation and what we read here is a translation so he could have meant that "the man died at least 10 hours earlier".

what were the parents doing when this young boy died its obvious he wasn't supervised .this is a tragedy that should never have happened a waste of a young life .

RIP young 'un, I wonder why he was tx'd to another hospital when minutes are vital in these drownings.
