Dept of Health recommends drinking 20 glasses of water per day during summer

BANGKOK, 21 April 2015 (NNT) - The Department of Health has advised people to stay hydrated and refrain from drinking alcohol during summer months.

Department Director General Pornthep Siriwanarangsan recommended that people drink cold water and take showers to regulate body temperature on warm days.

Dr. Pornthep added that drinking 20 glasses of water daily helps to replenish body fluids. He said that if a person urinates less than five times a day, he/she is relatively dehydrated.

He warned against drinking alcohol on warm days, because the alcohol increases body temperature and can eventually cause heatstroke.
