ED Visa Cancellation Nong Khai crossing

I have a few questions about cancelling my ED visa before crossing the Nong Khai border. I understand that I will need a cancellation letter from the school. This is no problem and they will be preparing that letter for me to pick up tomorrow.

Can I do the ED visa cancellation here in Bangkok before going to Nong Khai? I will be leaving on Apr 27th and the school will date the letter for that day as well. If I go to Bangkok immigration and cancel on Thursday Apr 23 will they consider me on overstay from the 23-27? Or will they cancel the visa on the date the school's letter says the 27th which is the day I'm leaving via Nong Khai.

Or would it be better to do the cancellation at the Nong Khai immigration office before crossing? Only problem is I hear it's a 3+ hour wait there. I'd rather just get across the border and be done with it. But I also don't want to pay any overstay fines as well.

I don't think you have a visa that can be cancelled. You have an extension of stay that needs to be cancelled.

You could go to CW on Friday the 24th and they should date the cancellation on the 27th.

Yes you're right it is a extension of stay cancellation. Thanks for the info. Guess I will go to CW on friday then to avoid the Nong Khai hassles.

I did this today, had cancellation letter from school and I got the required stamp from Nong khai immigration, only took 10 minutes.

Very happy with the Nong Khai immigration.
