I purchased for my co worker in Congo Africa a Galaxy Tab S from Thailand a few months back .He unfortunately cracked the screen luckily for him the tablet still works fine. Does anyone know the cost of replacing the screen? I am in Africa at the moment and can't check the prices in Thailand. I will bring it back to have it repaired for him as it is almost impossible to do in Congo.

Thanks

We replaced a screen on a Samsung 7" on Wednesday at Fortune for 1500 baht. took one hour ( and a bit ) . Very happy with the job and the service . From Samsung it was going to be 3000 + baht . PM me if you want the shop address although there are a quite a few shops there doing the same thing.

You were robbed.

My daughter had the screen replaced on her Samsung Tab 3 at Tukcom in Chonburi about two weeks ago for 600 baht. Replacing the screen on her friend's Galaxy Grand phone also cost 600 baht at the same shop. Likewise they were repaired within an hour or so and they phoned us both times when they were ready for collection.

It can also depend on whether or not the "digitizer"; the membrane below the glass that actually provides the images is broken. If that also needs to be replaced, it can double the price.

If there is color bleeding around the crack or discolored blotches on the display, that is a indication the digitizer is broken.

Usually, if it is just a simple crack, the digitizer is often undamaged, if shattered, then more likely that the digitizer will need replacement.

I've replaced glass twice; once in a phone, once in a 7" tablet. The phone glass replacement was about B1000 and worked out fine. The tablet was B900 (at Pantip Plaza) but the tablet never worked right after. There were several dead spots on the new display that would not sense taps or swipes making it frustrating to use.

Maybe we could have got it cheaper but not knowing the going prices and it was half the price of Samsung it seemed reasonable at the time. It is working well now and my son is happy he has his tablet working again .I have had a phone screen repaired at Tukcom too and it was crap and had to get it redone again so it can be a gamble .
