GLO Labor Union proposes lottery ticket sales at 100 baht apiece

BANGKOK, 5 May 2015, (NNT) -The Chairman of the Government Lottery Office (GLO) Labor Union, Amnuayporn Kerdpoom has proposed a lottery ticket price increase from 80 baht apiece to 100 baht.

Mr. Amnuayporn claimed that the request was reasonable, as the ticket price has remained at 80 baht apiece for over 30 years. He suggested that the GLO add the income from the hike to the existing prizes or to pay distributors.

The GLO Labor Union Chairman said that since the tickets are being sold at 120-130 baht apiece anyway, the general public should accept the suggested new price with ease.

Mr. Amnuayporn also mentioned the weekly wholesale lottery market at Wang Saphung district in Loei Province, saying that the atmosphere there is less than lively. He explained that vendors complain that it is impossible to sell tickets at 80 baht apiece when the cost to them was already 85 baht.

He concluded that the implementation of Section 44 of the interim constitution to enforce the regulation does not address the problem at its root.

In reply, the new GLO board said it would take the matter to this week’s meeting and would announce its decision on ticket prices next week.

Seems odd as i normally pay 120 for mine when i have a mind to do so lol, i know it states 80 baht but there is naturally payment for the trader the same as phone topup cards, so what they mean is that the increase will amount to 140 baht.

I suggest 50 baht a piece, but double the number of tickets, thus increasing the hope.

Why consider only the price change in 30 years and not the population?

So the traders will be upping their price also then.... Wonder how much? Some sell for 100, some 120, some 140 !! There should be a set price, oh yes just remembered where i am lol

The public may just say why pay more for same prize and stop buying then vendors as well as middlemen get nothing.

what we have here is greed at GLO there cash cow is getting pesky.

They should fire them on the spot,,,useless all these years.

This man seems a fine result of the Thai educational system.

As people are already used to being screwed over we just screw them over a little less so everybody is happy.

Methinks the man is worried his gravy train is about to leave and he's being left stranded. How will he continue to finance his Mia Noi's and all those house's and car's he has bought them ?

Ahem Ahem. Prayuth just made a solemn promise that lottery tickets would be 80 baht and not a penny more.

This entire Thai lottery Drama is so pathetic, luckily I can play my home countries' lottery online without any problem from Thailand.

And 90 Million Euro is better than 2 Million Baht anyway ;-)

They should do like what they do in many countries, get with the programme and put lottery machines in shops, then there would not be a problem, and the prices would stay the same, I am guessing they are scared that the shop owners might not give them their money.
