Police Arrest 4 Drug Suspects, Seize B61m in Assets

Featured Replies

Police arrested four drug suspects and seized over 61 million baht in assets Wednesday. The arrest follows the launch of a police operation to cut off financial flows that are linked to drugs. Permphong Chavalit, ONCB (Office of the Narcotics Control Board) chief, said police raided 19 areas in Nakhon Pathom, Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Ang Thong, Nong Bua Lam Phu and Ratchaburi.

Police have 10 targeted suspects, and arrested four on Wednesday. During the raid, officers seized 61.4 million baht in assets. One of the targets of the raid was a home in Soi Nak Niwas 12 in the Lat Phrao district of Bangkok. The home belonged to Benjaporn Srisuthat, age 28. Police seized 15 million baht worth of assets from the home, which included 6.54 million baht in cash. Ms. Benjaporn claims the money was being prepared for a sugarcane farm investment.

Yuthana Thapchu was arrested on January 21 by police in Samut Prakan for the alleged possession of 3,600 methamphetamine pills. Mr. Yuthana stated that he purchased the pills from Ms. Benjaporn.

Mr. Permphong says Ms. Benjaporn is Sakda Lert-ratsamithat’s wife. He was arrested in 2012 with 94kg of crystal methamphetamine.

All of Ms. Benjaporn’s assets will be frozen. The new police operation is aiming to cut the financial flows of 8 major narcotics rings in the country, which involves 17 provinces, 42 people and 44 areas.

If proven, this appears the authorities are going a little further up the food chain than the standard street dealer busts we have been fed in the past..

so trhat means , RTP starts to fear to be catched with bribe collection,

how otherwise they from 2011 did nothing against this chain ??

( except collecting their part of the business ) ;

i would imagine a lot of people will be getting ready to move now the police have disclosed this information what a bunch of wallys ,

"Ms. Benjaporn claims the money was being prepared for a sugarcane farm investment."

Well I guess sugar cane is a safer bet than a marijuana plantation right now.
