yoyo0510 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Hello People, I am asking this question on behalf of friend who doesn't use the internet (Strange I know). My wifes is Thai and has been living with me in the UK for the past three years,we have three children,my Thai wifes sister (30yrs old) has met a man from Manchester, they have met a few times but now he is super keen to get her over to the UK on a Tourist visa, he is convinced she is the one! They don't have photo's of them together, and she does not own land or property in Thailand, she does have a 10 year old child and a sick Momma, but I doubt this would go in her favour,my wife is also keen to see her sister in the UK but I have my doubts if she would qualify for a Tourist visa on this basis,am I wrong? My wife's sister's new boyfriend is 51 and ,with a good job and has a decent amount of savings, would she qualify to come here based on her also wanting to visit her sister and nephew while she is here for the three months staying with her new boyfriend who is happy to financially look after her?? They want to put in an application tomorrow,so any urgent replies would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
7by7 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) Relationships photos are not really necessary, though many people like to include them.Land ownership can be a good reason to return, but many get a visit visa without owning land. Does your sister in law work?As all UK visa applications have to be made online, your friend not having internet access may be a problem! For more details, including how to apply, see Standard Visitor visa.Personally, I think it may be better if she applies for a visa to visit her sister and you, as there will probably be less concerns about her overstaying and the only proof of relationship you'd need are her and your wife's birth certificates. My wife's sister is currently staying with us in the UK for the second time. She does not own any land and has never had a permanent job; instead picking up what casual, temporary work she can. We explained this in my sponsor's letter, and she was issued her visa without any hassles both times. You may find UK visit visa basics helpful; although recent changes have made some of it redundant, the basics are still the same. yoyo0510 Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Thank you 7BY7,my sister in law works at her friends Laundrette, she can provide 6 months worth of proof and tax paid by her employee. I will apply for her fella online while he is on the phone, thank you for your assistance, you have been very helpful. Thanks a lot.
7by7 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 A letter from her employer will help; if possible on headed paper. The other evidence you mention is also a plus, especially if the letter is not on headed paper; see this topic. The entry clearance section may phone her employer for confirmation of her employment and leave of absence; especially if she says she will be in the UK for a lengthy period. If the letter is written in English then they will expect to speak to the signatory in English and will doubt the letter's authenticity if s/he is unable to do so. If the letter is written in Thai then they will be happy to speak to the signatory in Thai, but as with every document in Thai she should provide a certified English translation as per the note in the introduction to the supporting documents guide. Although anecdotal evidence suggests that these translations are not always necessary, I'd rather be safe and provide them than sorry because I didn't!
yoyo0510 Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Great advice,I have just enquired about the letter head and I don't think it's gonna more be anything more than company name printed, with a basic address and telephone number, sounds a bit suspect to me, but then I know this type of business is very unlikely to be registered to pay big taxes of any kind,(im guessing) Thank you so much for your advice.
