A 22-year-old American tourist from Washington State has died in Phuket after returning to his hotel in the early hours of the morning, reportedly unwell and vomiting following a night of drinking with friends. The young man had been staying at the Rabbit Hotel, located near the old bus station (Phuket Bus Terminal 1) on Phang Nga Road, alongside his girlfriend, a Myanmar national. According to police, the American left the hotel on the evening before, to meet up with friends for drinks. He returned at approximately 04:30 on 6 April, visibly ill and vomiting. His concerned girlfriend immediately contacted emergency services, and he was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead. Police have since launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tourist’s death. Investigators are currently awaiting the results of a forensic medical examination to establish the exact cause of death. At present, police have not yet identified any foul play in connection with the case. Authorities have not released the man’s name, pending notification of next of kin. The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok has been informed to assist with repatriation and further consular matters. -- 2025-04-08 -

The current system is IMO corrupt and rotten to the core. It works by moving production to where they can most easily exploit the workers to make more profit. The whole rotten system would eventually collapse anyway, and if it's Trump that starts the collapse, it just happens to be now that it does collapse. Hopefully, after it's over and things return to "normal" they won't be like after 2008 and just carry on with the same old economic criminality, repackaged somewhat. -

Young Man Jumps into Chao Phraya River After Friend’s Ordination Party

A 20-year-old vocational graduate from Lopburi province is missing after leaping into the Chao Phraya River from Ang Thong Bridge, following a friend’s ordination celebration. The man, identified only as “San,” reportedly parked his motorbike on the bridge, placed his keys on the railing, and jumped into the river in full view of stunned onlookers. Police Lieutenant Yongyut Payungyat, deputy suppression officer at Ang Thong City Police Station, received the emergency call and quickly coordinated with local rescue teams and divers from the Ang Thong Rescue Foundation to begin a search operation. At the scene, officers discovered a grey Honda Wave motorcycle with Ang Thong registration parked in the middle of the bridge. A set of keys was found placed carefully on the railing, adding to the mystery surrounding the incident. Witnesses stated that the man rode onto the bridge, turned off the engine, placed his keys on the handrail, and jumped without hesitation into the river below. Despite the efforts of divers, who have searched for over three hours under difficult nighttime conditions, no trace of the young man has yet been found. Mr. Sun, a close friend of the missing man, told reporters that San had recently celebrated a friend’s ordination and had been drinking before the incident. “He was just coming back from the party. I don’t know what happened. He was drunk and just jumped,” Sun said. He also revealed that San had previously suffered a brain injury due to an accident, which may have had lingering effects. At present, authorities have not determined the exact cause of the incident. Police continue to investigate while the search for San’s body remains ongoing. -- 2025-04-08 -
