I bought the Deuter Race Exp Air 12+3, here a short review.

Who read postings from me, know already that I always find something to complain......

First of all 12+3 liter is much less than I expected, you can only put the most basic things.

Bought at ewian (spelling???), came in just a few days but customs catched it and charged 800 Baht which is OK considering the many things I got without charge in the past.

First impression of the quality is perfect. A little overdeveloped. My opinion is always have less is better. The net for the helmet if it could be removed it would be better. While the cover for rain is genious.

Concern heat and sweating: Nothing. Excellent design, it connects with the back only on a few points, between it has 5 cm space for air. What it reduces air, it reduces direct sun, so it doesn't feel more hot. A masterpiece of design!

Went for a short ride with step mountains. It is too high on the back, most probably to let the lower back move free and keep access to the back-pockets on the shirt. So that is OK. I am 1.70 tall for someone 1.90 it might be too high. The back setup is not adjustable.

The part on the belly does not fit perfect and the strips are overly long, I am now 66 kg. It would fit people who are bit fatter better.

On all steps up and down it didn't move out of position so it is still good enough, I would say even for extreme mountainbiking.

In the evening I tried it with 4 large bottles of Heineken+3 small glass bottles, the heavy chain+ under the helmet net 1 pack ice for the wife. It still felt very comfortable (but didn't try on step mountains) Felt a light strain on the shoulders it should put the force on the belly belt not on the shoulders but still OK.

Didn't move on the tribar position. When I entered our land I had to bend down (while walking) and it sloped to the left.

Over all very comfortable, I give it a 90%. If they would make it more adjustable or offer 3 version, small medium large it would be perfect. One of the great people I trained was below 60 kg (and most weight on the legs) and there are small femals as well, it would be way too large in the connection to the body, while there are tall men it is too small.

If you are average it is perfect. But I think I want to buy a bigger one, maybe 20 liter, any recommendations are welcome.

Any questions are also welcome

Finish have something on my back when cycling;

don't want to finish my years in a wheelchair .

Too dangerous for my spinal column .

But everybody do as he wants...

I have two saddlebags , one for my clothes and one for two or three bottles of water; they are cold a long time after I bought them , even the outside temperature is 35 * C or more

When I was young, in the last century cheesy.gif , sometimes I was cycling with a backpack ; big error ...the best way to destroy my back .

A good backpack is no danger for spinal, and 12+3 Liter can't be heavy (lack of volume). No risk.

The water is on the bottle holder on the frame and if I put 1 liter more in the backpack it is just 1 kg. I have it always at outside temperature I think it is faster resorbed by the stomach if it is body temperature.

When I was young (the biggest problems were dinosaurs crossing the street cheesy.gif ) I went with 30-40 kg backpacks and never any problems but everything fitted me perfect. On good backpack the force should enter the body with the belly belt and if bent it should be flat equal force on the back.

I think no backpack with 30 kg can make as much damage as a 10 kg beer belly.

And no backpack can make as much problems as ageing 20 yerars sad.png

Now I need 3 days recover when I needed 1 day before sad.png
