Any good thai teaching schools near Sarakham?

Featured Replies

Ok, its been 3 years in Thailand now and I can say 'Hello' 'Cheers' 'Down It' 'Thank You' 'Good Night'

Its starting to get a bit embarasing, and also quite frustrating when I want to ask something so simple such as do you sell mayonnaise, its gone from being amusing to people to now why dont you learn Thai on a more serious note, plus my 4 month old son will soon start talking and will be speaking english/thai. Fortunately for me my wife speaks excellent english due to working in swampy for 3 years, yet I need to sort it out. I suck at languages, I know this as I spent 4 years at school learning french and can say one or two words.... I think its time I pulled my finger out and learnt to speak basic Thai which will most likely improve my life here.

I think if I was able to speak Thai a little, I would save money from being ripped off, plus little silly things after a while start to get you down, things like being able to ask for a car part in the local garage, bits from shops etc, its all silly but it adds up and starts to grate on you.

My question is, does anyone know of any decent schools to learn Thai in the NE, I am in sarakham but dont mind travailing a bit, also does anyone know rough costs for courses?

I would go down the route of learning myself with books etc but I think if I pay for lessons and dedicate set times of the week to go to said lessons I will do it properly rather than slack off.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

contact mr yim as has posted same and came out with positive result ( a group with private teacher i believe )

I can recommend the wife of a good friend... She has been offering Thai Lessons on line with Skype for several years and from what I have read most of her students offer nothing but praise for her abilities to educate...

Her name is Katt, lives ins Khon Kaen, but you can get in touch with her thru this e-mail address... [email protected]

Up to you, but you might want to mention that you heard about her from Pianoman from Kalasin...

I used to learn with Katt via Skype and really enjoyed my time with her. Good teacher, good English - her husband's American & she often goes to USA - and a very nice person too. Very patient & tolerant of my tone cock-ups.

I chose to learn via Skype because I live a 1+ hour drive from KK. Unfortunately my internet connection frequently drops out so that I spent almost as much time waiting for the connection to re-establish as I did learning and it just became impractical. If I could make the regular trips to KK to learn with her again, I would but MrsL needs the car for work.

Check out "learn thai style" online, they have private tutors across all of Thailand, and so they might have one in Sarakham (Which would probably be more convenient than kk or over Skype).
