BANGKOK: -- The Foreign Affairs Ministry says the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra now holds no more Thai passport
In the second announcement today, the ministry dismissed reports in news media that it has not yet revoked all his passports.

It clarified that prior to revoking former premier Thaksin’s passports on May 26, he held two brown or individual passports, passport books No U957441 and No Z530117.

The latest diplomat passport No D215863 he held, had been revoked since 15 December 2008, the ministry said in its announcement Monday.

Government deputy spokesman Maj Gen Wirachon Sukonthapatipak, meanwhile, said the announcement by the Foreign Affairs Ministry clearly showed that all the former premier’s passports had been revoked.

He said claim by some people that the ministry has not yet revoked all his passports, suggesting either that they did not understand or just tried not to understand despite the fact that the ministry’s announcement was clear.

A man with no country.

He has merely lost his right to travel to other countries as a Thai. Because he is still a Thai citizen, he could enter Thailand on that basis if he wanted.

Plus he is a citizen of one or more other countries.

No the passports are not valid anymore. Officially you can't use them (if they are checked).

No matter what they do, one thing that hasn't been sorted out is a divided nation , I would assume that all the red shirts are still there and all the Yellow shirts are still there , so in reality the short sightedness of a Coup has done exactly diddley Sh!!t , for when the time comes for General elections out they will come in droves for the PTP or who ever and it won't really give a damn how many passports Khun Thaksin has and you could say a divided Nation really didn't embrace Prayut - O - Cha doctrine or the happiness club after all. coffee1.gif

That's might be true for now, but the fat lady hasn't sung yet on this silly saga,

Yaowappa is tuning up the vocal chords at this very moment.

Ahhh the next PM....

If she ever made it to PM ha ha ha, she would not have time to travel she would be opening every new food outlet every day. She would follow in sisters footsteps------no time for meetings or parliament.

A man with no country.

Know-nothings keep mindlessly repeating this over & over & over again ...

(Psssst, it doesn't mean that at all. No, and it doesn't mean he can't return to his country - which IS still his country - either.)

Even if he had no OTHER valid passports from OTHER countries with which to travel (which he reportedly DOES have), he'd be issued some sort of emergency travel document by Thailand if his intent was to return there.

This idea that because his thai passports have been cancelled he's now "stateless" is beyond preposterous and strictly the product of people who like to repeat things...

I'm not a Thaksin lover, but feel tempted to say that he perhaps would be like pneumonia in comparison to what we have now (brain cancer)... However, a simple question: If even a Thai person can have her Thai passport revoked, where's the point for a foreigner in fighting and paying dearly for residency and eventually Thai citizenship? It can be stripped from you at any given moment anyway, so why bother???

Who cares? This man probably is a passport holder of even more than one country. It's costs only 1 Mill Pounds to get an UK passport, other EU contries are cheaper.

At the end it turns out to be a personal war by the General to defeat and destroy Thaksin? Was this the reason for the Coup?

Mohamed Al-Fayed ain't got a UK passport yet, so maybe 1 mill doesn't entitle you to citizenship
