BANGKOK: -- The first group of 126 street racing motorcyclists were on Monday taken to the Bangkok Central Juvenile and Family Court to face charges of reckless driving causing nuisance to the other people.

The other batch of 126 street racers who are over 18 years of age will appear before the Thon Buri District Court tomorrow to face similar charges, said Pol Col Manop Sukonthanapat, superintendent of Talad Phlu police station.

He went on saying that parents of the first group of street racers would be invited to meet with police for interrogation in accordance with Children’s Protection Act which set out measures to deal with parents who fail to properly look after their children.

Meanwhile on Monday, Talad Phlu police led by Pol Lt-Col Kwanchai Srimanusorn, the deputy superintendent, to inspect a total of 272 motorcycles seized from the illegal street racers during the early hours of Sunday to determine any of them are illegal.

Altogether 437 bikers and their female pillion riders were rounded up in a crackdown jointly launched by police, military personnel and rescue workers.

Well, its a start..... now, I wonder if all will receive the same punishments, or are some more privileged than others.

Hopefully the way it works is first an invite. If no show a summons. If no show an arrest warrant.

I trust every rider and passenger was wearing a crash helmet, every motor cycle was taxed and insured and confiscated immediately, whether modified or not. Then I woke up!!!!!

If only the fines were a little higher so they had the desired effect of changing behaviour. whistling.gif

Kids and their mopeds shame they have nowhere to go in Bangkok to let off some steam on a Saturday night with their souped up noisy hair dryers.

I don't think they got any Mercedes Benz in the haul!

Doesnt Mercedes Benz make a motorcycle hmm must be BMW. Bring this road show up to Chiang Mai you can sit out in front of KSK Central all night and pick them off with little time in between arrests. The only problem is you may have to work a little bit to catch them. Its not like shooting fish in a barrel like this episode in Bangkok.

There is a proper drag strip just outside Bkk. But it has rules ( not many)

These idiots don't want that, they don't even find a nice quiet road somewhere. It's usually on a major road!

You surely don't expect these street racers, citizens of what some members loosely refer to as a 'third world country', to be showing of to their girls on BMWs, Ninjas, Aprilias or Ducatis. Do you?

Good job the police, but it is a pity that nowhere has been found off road where these racers can show off, crash and burn without hurting the general public..

edit t add, I read the post above

Hey casualbiker, which drag strip are you talking about?

Do you have a name or location?

How about a little tough love and send them south to do lots of digging for corpses? Say 3 months worth?

Tonight on local cable here (BTV Jomtien) happened to catch 40 minutes or so of helmet and dash cams of nothing but motorcycle crashes all around the world, including some from Thailand. No commentary, fascinating and really drove home need to ride responsibly (and even then plenty of crashes) and ALWAYS wear a helmet. Put that on commercial TV....

Look at this YouTube

Send them to the Buriram racing facilities and let them drive until they are exhausted in the heat. ?

There is also the old BIRA Circuit near Pattaya for such occasions. ? The boys need only some sponsorship to pay the renting fees.

If one is going to "Drive Recklessly," it would seem that doing so "before the Juvenile Court," is a most inappropriate place to do it.

Why not simply put these juveniles into gas chambers along with their parents and simply gas them. They will only grow up to be criminals and a nuisance to society only later on in life. Protect the society, rid the world of potential scum. Also include those who criticise me later in the forum as they too protect these criminals.

The punishments will range from a 500 baht fine, to a year in prison, depending on the family name, and whether or not they are wealthy and connected.

Very practical. I applaud your ultimate solution. Why not gas the whole country's criminals and their parents (if alive) while you're at it. Or you could order another beer instead, which is more feasible.
