Today I took our Chevrolet Captiva for service in Pattaya today. It is 18 Months Old.

They called this afternoon to say the Battery needs replacing as its almost dead.

I cant find anything about battery Warranty on Line but most WEB sites tell you that a battery should last a minimum of 3 years in a hot climate.

On top of that they want to charge a whopping 4700 baht for a new one.

I simply don't believe them and feel it should be a warranty job if it has failed that quickly.

Any suggestions!

Thanks

Ours lasted about 30 months. I think the four year battery life is a thing of the past at least in SEA.

But as another poster said, the 4700 THB replacement price is out of line.

Thanks rafo77 problem solved. Gone to an independent battery place. 2 year warranty 2800 baht.

To avoid future disappointment, keep in mind warranties on things such as a car battery are done on a proration basis.

good luck.

You did well to get a 2 year warranty ...norm here is 18 months.

The original battery on my V-Cross lasted just over 3years

To make it last longer ... lift the bonnet when you get home and at any other time you can ... heat kills the battery ... several topics on TV mention this ... for dis- believers just google

Take the old battery to a recycling center, they will give you approx 500 baht for it.. Battery shops normally only give about 200 baht.

Makes the new one 2300 baht which isn't too bad :)

3.5 years out of my original Ford battery...

never had luck with batteries. always lasted less than 2 years...

yes, lifting the bonnet helps both the battery and plastic parts from heat damage

Purchased a new Pajero on June 2010 and just changed the battery last month

Also have a 2010 BMW and the original battery is still fine
