I just spent an hour in an air con coach, including onboard movie entertainment for 50 baht, only to alight at the Udon bus stop and be hit with a 200 baht quote from a tuk tuk driver to take me on a 5 minute spin.

I'm all about generosity and tipping but I don't like being robbed.

The driver thought they had a deal but I just grabbed my bag and started walking.

He said OK 100.

and....

can't blame a dude for trying, right?

Back in the day, my wife and I got off a private long tail at a different stop than we started from. We had know idea where were. Luckily there was a tuk tuk by the curb who offered us his services. I gave him the card from the hotel we were staying at and he said it would be 100bt. Being a wise tourist , I bargained to 50bt which he excepted,(wow,I got this down). We jumped in the tuk tuk and off we went to exactly across the two lane street from where we started(unbeknownst to us, the long tail driver was doing us a favor, putting us off near our hotel) So maybe we got a 30 sec. ride for 50 bt. We couldn't stop laughing, witch got the tuk tuk driver cracking up. I think this single event,(this was our first day in Thailand) endeared us to the Land of Smiles...
