Post dated Settlement visa since new rule - anyone?

Since the introduction of the visa having to be used within 30 days of being granted has anyone post dated said visa up to 3 months at which point the 30 days would kick in?

My wife's application was submitted on May 19th , approved on June 18th. During the application process, I requested the 30 day window start on 3rd July,

and the ECO complied with that request, giving my wife a travel vignette valid from 3rd July 2015 to 3rd August 2015
