8 years overstay cleared without any problems

Featured Replies

Yep they are more or less a joke because they were never approved by a higher authority since they were announced in May of last year. Which means they probably will never be approved.

  • Now there you go. The Thai immigration authorities have always been more or less very gracious in the manner that they handle foreigners that overstay and violate their immigration laws. I for one,

I believe you were told previously that if you paid the 20K baht fine you would be clear by people on this forum. You see we don't lie now. We have seen it before. Your problems do not come from out

isn't it like people as the OP that immigration laws for all law abiding farangs are getting more tough ?

The 'new rules' on overstay above never actually got more tough, as they weren't implemented. The 'tourist visa crackdown' of 2014 turned out to only be about visa waivers.

So what actually got tougher for you? There's zero evidence overstayers, a fraction of the population, have changed anything.

Well done for getting it sorted. Been there done that. Although interestingly even with an 11 year overstay stamped into my new passport

Are you saying that when you got your new passport, an overstay stamp was somehow carried forward from the old one? Or are you just saying got the overstay stamped in a new passport which you continue using without problem?

He had a new passport that was stamped when he left the country.

An overstay stamp would not be transferred to a new passport.

My old passport had expired so i applied for a new passport and then on leaving a stamp with my arrival date in 2003 and my exit in August 2014 were placed in it along with the stamp indicating the number of days overstayed and that a 20k fine was paid. Rather incongruously of course the "arrival stamp date" predated the new passport issuance date by over 10 years. That caused a further delay in processing the overstay. If I had not still had the old passport and TM6 form I think that it would have been significantly more tricky to deal with as the old passport provided the record of my earlier entry. So as UJ correctly stated the overstay stamp was not carried or copied from the old passport but was stamped into the passport that I was using to depart with.

How on earth did they allow you to pay the fine and go on your way at Nong Khai for EIGHT YEARS OVER STAY ?????

i thought they start detaining people in jail if the overstay is more than 2 months !

(or maybe your post is a hoax) ??

also: please can you specify: "probably they thought i m useful to this country"

- What exactly do you do here? How do you believe that are you useful to Thailand ?

Does anyone else here on this thread have experience of OPVERSTAYING more than 3 or 4 months ?

how did you guys get out of it?

PLEASE POST !!

There have been many people leave with long overstays without a problem. You should read a few posts further up the page to find out there is no penalty for overstay other than the fine.

Please calm down before you drop dead!

There are a lot of post on TV about people with a long overstay.

easybullet3 here is a link to my story from last year. Just to re-iterate I don't condone overstaying or plan to do so again but the Thai immigration penalties are not nearly so draconian as some believe or indeed would like to see imposed...Thankfully it is Thai immigration who enforce THEIR laws and not some of the posters on here http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/751762-cleared-11-year-overstay/ .

last year while shopping at Panthip plaza in Bangkok I saw a huge brown van and some officers were arresting random people walking in the street but I noticed that they were arresting only (Cambo & Laotian and probably some Bangladeshi) just a guess from their look.

so law enforcement agencies are extremely competent and well aware of what is going on in this country they have the brightest smartest guys when it comes to intelligence, Thai neighbors love gossip and they will always report any person whom they consider undesirable or suspicious.

I had my rental contract & utility bills paid using my name and the condo unit manager was reporting all foreigners staying in my unit to the police and immigration even the police report to a special time recorder machine down my unit almost everyday.

I guess even the 90 days reporting is not so important to track down foreigners and it s only a bureaucratic hiccup when I was on overstay my gf called an IO and was told about my full situation (exact date of entry, length of years overstayed and SURPRISINGLY EVEN MY CURRENT NEW ADDRESS !!!) , after that call I was terrified that i was going to be arrested on that week but luckily that thing didn't happen.clap2.gif

i was living my life normally and ppl could easily guess what I was doing from my white tie shirt rolleyes.gif .

according to article 7 of Immigration Act of Thailand B.E. 2522 (1979),

(7) Having behaviour which could cause possible danger to the public; or having the likelihood of being a nuisance or constituting any violence to the peace, safety and security of the public or to the security of the nation; or being under warrant of arrest by competent officials of foreign governments.

@ Gilo: wowow!!! you cleared 11 years overstay. thats incredible. you didnt mention in your thread what reason you gave to the immigration. (it would be lovely to know it).

in your opinion,, (as someone who has gone through this before). what are the reasons that someone overstays so very long ? coz it means you didnt have any sort of trip or holiday outside of thailand for 11 whole years!

i think its most likely easy to do this,,, because you dont really ever need to carry your passport around with you.. (foreign driving licnse usually is enough ID for any polliceman).. or a photocopy of your photopage of passport.

@ Dutchisaan: really,, this is the first time I heard of such long overstays in Thailand.. Lol

i was always worried about overstaying as much as a month! 5555

but anyway.. i am still really curious to know why the OP today "heroKK" said that he believed that "Thai Authorities thought he was 'useful' to thailand".

if he was a billionaire or a special government espiaonage worker,, yes ok.

but otherwise, i wanna know how he is so highly strung.

I think they are millions of rules and guidelines in Thailand which are not mentioned anywhere.
WAKE UP WAKE UP people !!! why each Thai consulate a have totally different set of rules in each country ???

All of the diplomatic corps are very highly educated folks so to me I understood the very hidden message so clearly, we welcome people from some countries while we reject others and we can guess the real reason why the manila embassy is not so friendly at all comparing to the others ???

If they meant everybody they would have tightened up the rules at the Laos consulates long time ago, they couldn't directly say hey we don't want you here but they inform others (using this website etc..) what to do exactly to avoid the hidden obstacles, they even went so far by publishing the black list of countries whom they consider very undesirable at the door of most of their diplomatic missions.

Try to imagine what would happen if the (Chinese & Indian ) visa runners were allowed and how much jams and congestion will be at the nongkhai checkpoint crossing probably they will be more then 10,000 applicants per day ??? Bangladesh has a population of 160 million with 50% below poverty line and it s only 600 miles away !!!!!!!!!!!!!! blink.png

therefore the green light is given as long as your country fellowmen will behave well in Thailand.

I think this topic has run it's course. It already turning into a bickering and slagging match.

It is now mfr_closed1.gif
