PATTAYA: -- Police arrested 135 illegal foreign laborers at a construction site in North Pattaya on Saturday.

Banglamung Police received a tip-off from local residents that a sudden increase in crimes in the area, especially theft of motorbikes, was allegedly due to the presence of the illegal immigrants.

Police raided the site, operated by the SPC Construction Company and detained 87 men, 44 women and 4 children, who were all found to be Cambodian Nationals who appear to have entered Thailand illegally.

It later transpired that they were brought into the country by a Thai agent who they would pay 1,500 Baht to secure entry into Thailand.
