Uk Visa For Maid

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to get a working visa to the UK for my maid? I am returning to the UK from Bangkok and would like to take her with me.

Thanks

Hi berries,

Before the "big guys" come on line, to help them answer your question. Can you give some more details. i.e. how long has she worked for you? Is it to look after a child and she has been looking after it for some time? Is she related to your partner?

Can't think of any more at the moment but the more details you can provide the better.

Good luck :o

Hi, thanks for your posts. She has worked with me for two years and is primarily a nanny. She is Burmese, high school educated and can speak English. She is no relation.

Berries,

As a starting point, she should have a Burmese passport and be lawfully resident in Thailand. If she is not lawfully resident in Thailand, the British embassy in Bangkok may refuse to accept the application and insist that she applies in Yangon.

Your maid will need evidence that she has worked for you for the 2 years. This should include her contract of employment, wage slips, and tax returns. She will also need to demonstrate that you have the financial ability to pay her wages in the UK and you will require an employment contract which meets the minimum criteria of UK employment law. You should also make clear whether you are to offer her accommodation or if it's to be off-site. Evidence of its suitability should also be provided.

Cheers,

Scouse.
