I think I would go for quadriderm first. If that didn't clear it up in a week I'd go see a doctor and no doubt be prescribed an antibiotic. In truth the latter would save a lot of bother imo.

One poster made a point about checking glucose level. It is a fair point, but in the absence of excessive thirst, blurred vision, and general fatigue it's unlikely you have diabetes.

Keny202 I also went through a period similar to you. I carry a dozen scars in various locations, mainly lower legs, from said infections. I got to know the nurses well at the local clinic - daily scrapes of the wound - very painful. The good news is that my body eventually built up a natural resistance to whatever bacteria was causing the problem. No probs for 3 years now.

As a Doctor and I am sure Sheryl and others will know of this research, HIGH CONCENTRATIONS of formulated Vitamin B will emit an odor through your skin that INSECTS HATE.

I'm not sure what "HIGH CONCENTRATIONS" means, but it's in all caps so I guess you're suggesting something pretty massive. You'd think a doctor would caution people about vitamin B6 toxicity, which can start at doses as low as 200 mg.

I've also never heard a medical professional other then my gynecologist say "pussy sores".

Use Coconut Oil on insect Bites

The ichyness goes away in a few minutes

and Coconut Oil has natural healing properties

Coconut oil seems to be the wonder oil. I use it for moisturiser, cooking, hair conditioner and now for insect bites. Shake it all over everything and all from the same bottle. To hell with hygiene Its the wonder oil. Anyone fancy coming to my place for a low cholesterol fried egg sandwich, hair cut and wash, and insect bight treatment. One stop shopping. One bottle treatment.cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

I think the scratching is the key -- you need not to. Immediate application of a cream containing a steroid will ease the itching.

Like I said never been prone to infections and hate taking anti biotic unless absolutely need them. Is there something u can get from the pharmacy to check sugar levels?

yes...you can go to Boots or Watsons and ask for a diabetic blood sugar testing kit...but really it is easier and far more accurate to see a doctor. But I am reading several of these stories (like the guy whose foot turned blue) and I am certain diabetes is the likely cause of poor wound healing. Your body works better if you are not killing it with booze and cake.

if you do get a kit....testing should be done as per instructions, fasting. Levels over 90 are pre-diabetic and over between 100 and 125 you are likely diabetic. Over 126 you are in trouble and you are damaging your kidneys and eyes every minute it stays high.

Anythimng under 100 = normal, between 100 and 125 = pre-diabetes. Over 125 would be diabetic but as with any lab value should be consistent for several readings and not a one-off.

These are fasting levels, i.e. test in morning before eating anything.

A fasting glucose is part of any physical check up, even the most basic package.

betadine kills the good skin too, don't use betamine except immediately after injury http://www.merckmanuals.com/professional/SearchResults?query=tsetse

As per my post #20.............

Betadine is okay for cuts/grazes and bites etc and for applying for a few days afterwards (there is a cream as well as a liquid) however it has been shown that constant use of this actually delays the healing process and can cause skin around the wound to die off. Sure it is used prior to surgical procedures, but not constantly used after that.
