PHUKET: -- Two Russians had to be rescued from Koh Pu, a small island 2 nautical miles off the coast of Karon beach, yesterday evening (July 20) after they rode a jet-ski there and were unable to return due to bad weather conditions.

Mr Bebal, 29, and Ms Arkina had got stranded on Koh Pu and could not return due to the high waves and heavy rain.

At 5:30pm yesterday, Karon Deputy Mayor, Ittiporn Songkaew, announced that two Russian tourists named as Mr Bebal, 29, and Ms Arkina had got stranded on Koh Pu and could not return due to the high waves and heavy rain.

Even though the weather was bad, officers from the Royal Thai Navy took out two jet-skis to rescue the two who had both suffered minor injuries and were badly shaken by the incident. However, they were very thankful to the navy officers who they felt had saved their lives.

“The strong currents prevented the jet-ski from coming back to Karon Beach. We did try to get back but it was impossible,” said Mr Bebal.

Meanwhile, as the rescue was taking place, Karon marine rescue workers took to the beach to warn tourists about the dangers of the Andaman Sea at this time of the year.

They'll be charged 50,000 baht for "exceeding the time limit" on the jet ski rental.

Yes - that was my first thought. How much was the jet ski charge.

Koh Pu is just a short distance off Kata Beach. Surprised they could not make it over to the beach there ?

Ms. Arkina looks like Korean, doesn't she? This is not a typical Russian face.

Now I understand why TAT is promoting Phuket to Kazakhs.... excellent idea

Pretty Kazahks, taller than short legged local lassies gigglem.gif

Where's that RTP guy got his hand? Dirty old man.

Mind u she looks happy enough.

I seem to remember some sort of strong winds and high seas report yesterday.

The operators of jet skis were still renting out????

Of course....money number one!

Mind you, you have to be a bit of a numpty to go that far out on a jet-ski in high seas and winds anyway!facepalm.gif

So what do you think a typical Russian looks like? Russia is the world’s largest nation which borders both European and Asian countries as well as the Pacific and Arctic oceans. Back to school dude. Your comment shows how little you know.....

Jet-ski bill for overtime will be massive + damage (even tho no damage) on top so about 50,000-75,000 B - easier just to buy them a new Jet-ski ...
