Worawi Makudi given suspended jail term for election fraud in football association

BANGKOK: -- Football Association of Thailand president Worawi Makudi was today sentenced by Bangkok South District Court to two years in prison and a fine of 6,000 baht after finding him guilty of falsifying documents in the recent election of the football association president.

Also facing the same sentence was Mr Ong-art Korsinca, president of Thai Premier League Co Ltd.

But since the two convicts never committed any offence in the past, the court commuted their sentence by one fourth to one year and four months in prison, and fine reduced to 4,000 baht.

However the prison term was later suspended.

Both Worawi, best known by the Thai media as Bung Yee, and Ong-art were sued by Pattaya FC football club president for falsifying documents and giving false information in the election of the president of Football Association of Thailand in 2013.

Is there a fair, effective and impartial judge anywhere to be found in Thailand? Are there other countries (besides of course Cambodia and Burma, our broken neighbors) that have less effective judiciaries?

Nice to see connected persons being let off again with shameful sentences for fraud.

Yes, seems the war on corruption has yet to start.

I don't think there is. Other than in places like the Sudan, Somali, Iraq, Syria etc. Maybe Thailand isn't all that behind the aforementioned.
