Thailand's military coup this week interrupted filming of Nicolas Cage's new movie, a gangster thriller being shot in Bangkok, a news report said Thursday.

The Chinese news Web site Sina.com said Cage had prepared a private jet to leave the country on short notice.

Hong Kong-born twin brothers Danny and Oxide Pang are remaking their 1999 film, "Bangkok Dangerous," Sina.com said.

When news of the coup on Tuesday night reached the crew, Cage was sent back to his hotel. Crew members remained on the set to keep an eye on prop guns until Cage persuaded the producer to send everyone home, according to the report.

The directors couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Sina.com said filming was scheduled to be completed next month, but may be delayed by the coup, which saw the military overthrow of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Cage, 42, won a best-actor Oscar for 1995's "Leaving Las Vegas." His screen credits also include "Adaptation," "World Trade Center" and "Matchstick Men."

Leaving Las Vegas does qualify for one of his best.

Figgis and Shue and Cage did an excellent job portraying how a man can feel when he hits the bottom of the barrel.

Personally.

Face Off was classic too.

Too bad, I didn`t figure Nick to be a coward.

Try a better source , try ' Lord of War' ' Weatherman' " Face off " " The Rock " " Red Rock West "

" Moonstruck " " Peggy Sue got married "

Don't forget other classics like Con Air and Valley Girl (his first movie ?), and of course, National Treasure. :o

That could be, or the production company could have put pressure on, insurance reasons and a lot of money at stake.

quien sabes

I think you may be being a little unfair to Mr. Cage. I suspect that "Military Intervention" would void any insurance that the film makers had for their "Stars", in which case, being American, they would want him out of the country before he managed to "break a fingernail" and instigate a multi-million dollar claim against the film makers.
