Land prices increase in Chiang Mai / Mae Rim

Visited Lanna Village Moobaan today, on the road to Doi Saket, 1/2Km before Doi Saket on the right.

Every other house appeared to be for sale or rent, gotta be some bargains there (if anywhere).

Bit wild, but massive plots, like living in the jungle.

As a foreigner, you can't own land in Thailand, so why worry about the price?

How I buy land is irrelevant to this thread. My question is why people are tripling prices in the last 1-2 years and is anyone going to buy at those insane prices.

Why don't you check to see if any has been sold last 6 months and for what price, there should be some system there for that.

If the price has been going up good chance there are buyers around, now imagine how many house lots you could get on a rai if you wanted to subdivide...There are enough Thai developers there with plenty of money behind them its not just western thinking you know.

Poster puwa was providing clarification to my post, for which I was grateful. I thought your subsequent post was less than polite.

The post could only be perceived as impolite if you actually believed my ridiculous claim that there were no roads that bypassed the 107 through Mae Rim.

Anyways, only impolite Farangs in Mae Rim, so stay away all you better folks and go stay and hang out in Hang Dong or where ever you come from.

A farang with Japanese wife, working nearby, renting an older three bed two bath home with small garden, nothing special at all apart from the location, 25k month.

My mooban is full of nice 3-bedroom 2 bathrooms houses for rent. The ones priced at 25K stay empty. The ones priced at 14K always have tenants.

I was paying 5k/month for 2 bedroom bungalow with nice garden just outside Mae Rim.

Looked at several houses for 4-6k/month in Mae Rim.

One three bedroom house two sois up from Makro, they wanted 4k/month, nice roof terrace but I would have needed to put western toilets in myself.

Not so sure why all the foreigners need their 'farang hooker palaces' out in the wilds surrounded by a large estate and high walls, I'm happy to live in a normal house with Thais right next door.

You are paying 1,000 Baht a month MORE than it cost to board my dogs. Your choice of a life style makes a perfect case of chocolate and vanilla there is no right or wrong in life styles. There are those happy with a diet of chicken and beer and those having chateaubriand and champagne. I'm positive that with the 20-30,000 Baht that your saving on rent each month, you are having a riotuss life style

I would say he's a sensible person, living within his means, not everyone can afford,

your Chateaubriand,Champagne, and Caviar lifestyle, but this does not mean they

are not living a positive lifestyle and are very happy with their life, money does not

always buy happiness.

There is another saying, in Thai. "Ruk, gin mai dai". Love, can not eat. If you are a man, and can not provide what your family requires, due to poor financial choices, or what ever it may be, you will soon see the stress of not having money take its toll on all relationships that you are involved in. This is the truth. Money may not buy happiness, but it sure helps to preserve it.

Thanks for proving my point.
