Sweden drops some sex cases against Assange

HELSINKI (AP) — Swedish prosecutors say they have dropped investigating two cases of sexual crimes against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange because they have expired, but will continue to investigate accusations of rape against him.

The Swedish Prosecution Authority says it has been unable to charge the 44-year-old Australian, who escaped a Swedish arrest warrant by taking refuge in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London in 2012.

He was wanted by police for questioning on four allegations involving rape and sexual misconduct made by two women during his 2010 visit to Sweden.

The agency said Thursday that a third case of sexual molestation "will be time-barred" on Aug. 18, but he was still wanted for questioning on allegations of rape that expire in 2020.

What Assange's doing with wiki leaks is courageous and potentially earth-shattering.

From watching his interviews, it's clear that he's shrewd, smart, driven and forward-thinking. He has a clear idea of what he's doing, has thought things through and presents a simple argument that is easy to follow in a series of essays posted here: http://cryptome.org/0002/ja-conspiracies.pdf

A clear, concise and intelligible analysis of Assange's essays by blogger zunguzungu is highly recommended:http://zunguzungu.wordpress.com/2010/11/29/julian-assange-and-the-computer-conspiracy-to-destroy-this-invisible-government/#

At TED interview Assange got a standing ovation:http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/julian_assange_why_the_world_needs_wikileaks.html

For an even simpler (and entertaining) understanding of what Assange is doing, watch Colbert:http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/260785/april-12-2010/exclusive---julian-assange-extended-interview

A FORB's interview shows how transparency is being curtailed and how leaks can actually protect free markets preventing dishonest companies from prospering while helping honest ones prevail:http://blogs.forbes.com/andygreenberg/2010/11/29/an-interview-with-wikileaks-julian-assange/

Anyone willing to plow through all of the above MUST come to the conclusion that Assange is doing the right thing and doing us all a favor by helping salvage Democracy and Free Markets. Libertarians and Tea Partiers, if they were true to their principles, should be worshipping this guy (assuming that Tea Partiers understand their own principles).

In Sweden, if the condom breaks and you cum it's rape.

If you don't have sex without a condom it's rape

A man and a prostitute has sex, it's rape.

All of the above... a man is charged but the female is NEVER charged.

This is Swedish law where Sweden is a feminist run country. The only country in the world that believes a child shouldn't have both parents to bring up a child.

Many Swedes I know are very critical of Swedish laws and attitudes, in this and other areas, and have chosen to emigrate. Extreme liberal feminism policed by the PC at all times in all things.

I wonder in practice, how many times a woman actually complains to the police and instigates a rape charge under these circumstances? Anyone who things this isn't politically motivated by Sweden trying to please America is naive in the extreme.

Sweden is a country where far left feminism won completely already. Where a woman has a power to put any of her sexual partners in jail. Where in any dispute between male and female the state steps on female's side.

If I would visit Sweden - no sexual contacts with Swedish women in any circumstances.

This is your future, UK an USA.

and what is the most ridiculous - so many farangs who ran away from feminist dictatorship in their own countries - are trying to impose Thailand the same sick left ideas.

I agree that the guy is courageous.

Far more so than I am. Uncle Sam is not one to be trifled with.

No matter how right (correct) one may be, I guarantee you that there's a law somewhere they can and will hang you with if you ruffle the feathers of the "Establishment".

The only thing Assange is guilty of is Piss Poor Prior Planning.

He should have married a favella girl in Brazil & gotten a Brazilian passport (no extradition treaty to the US in Brazil), before he made waves.

I'm from the USA and utterly despise my government.

I hope Trump wins the next election. At least he knows how to declare bankruptcy. He's done it 4 times before & that's what the US will have to do sooner or later, the sooner the better.

=============

I'm no fan of Stephen Colbert, but here is something he said that I agree with.......The same could be said for Obama or Bush though as well.

"Just a few weeks ago, US talk show host Stephen Colbert was asked if he thought that Donald Trump had a chance of becoming President of the United States.

Colbert responded sincerely. “Honestly, he could. And that’s not an opinion of Trump. That’s my opinion of our nation.”
