Hunan college student found dead on beach in Thailand

PATTAYA: -- A 20-year-old university student from Hunan province was found dead on a beach in Pattaya, Thailand's red-light district, after losing contact with her parents earlier this month.

The woman, Zhang Chunrong, told her parents she wanted to travel before getting a new job and took a trip to Thailand on August 3. She promised her mother that she would keep in touch through WeChat, but all contact ended soon after she arrived.

Three days after Zhang landed in the country, her mother received a call from the Chinese Embassy in Thailand informing her that her daughter had been found dead on a beach in Pattaya, China.org reports. The cause of death was not stated.

After some investigation, it was revealed that Zhang had traveled to Thailand to meet up with an acquaintance.

Thais actually admit Pattaya is Thailand's " Red light district " ..........I don't think they understand what " Red light district " really means.

An area where sex is the main industry and where prostitution is the main source of work. But of course prostitution is illegal in Thailand.

Sadly it looks like this young girl was mistaken for a bar girl

Aug 3rd her body was found on a beach, ten days ago. Did this make the local Pattaya papers ? I'd have thought it would be in the local news. Not much to go on, no condition of body, not drowning, clothes on/off/disarray, just that her body was found on a beach.

RIP, so sad.

Apart from the irrelevance of the first two lines, it is impossible to see where your conclusion comes from.

The article could lead to the reason for her death, maybe some business venture gone wrong.

And girls are not regularly killed because they are bar girls or mistaken for bar girls.

How many bar girls are found dead on the beach in Pattaya?

What a very strange assumption.

Of course the police will say it is an accident or suicide, so they can close the case without investigating. But the fact that it was in Thailand's red light district makes it suspicious.

No, I don't think so. The BFFs in Beijing would never stand for it. There'll need to be a fall guy. 'Be interesting to see what passport that person carries ...

The report was in the Chinese media, not Thai media, Thailand made no such admission.

Sadly, it looks as though you're wildly speculating about the dead girl.

The girls parents were informed 3 days after her arrival that she had been found dead so it's safe to assume that her body was found on the 6th not the 3rd.

The report about the incident was not meant to give you anything to go on, the police are conducting an investigation without the help of Thaivisa members.

Maybe the ThaiVisa sleuths are getting bored with solving the Ko Tao case.

Their investigation would probably have a better outcome if ThaiVisa members helped.

The Thai police don't seem able to make any progress on crimes with foreigner victims by themselves.

NCC1701A comes from the future ....... no crime there then.

By waiting for so long to make this death public...it gives the culprit/culprits plenty of time to vacate the scene of the crime...this is Thailand...crime actually does pay very well...
