Studying in Phuket

Featured Replies

I am planning to move to Thailand for 3-4 months for studying Thai, but I have not quite decided where I want to stay, so I hope you guys maybe can help me with some advice.

I am thinking about Phuket. I would like to stay not too far away from a nice a nice beach, but still a little bit away from the big tourist spots if this is possible. I will absolutely not stay in places like Patong.

If anyone have any advice about some nice places I can stay for learning that apart from Phuket, I will be very thankful. I am open to most places as long as I have to possibility to visit the beach and meet local people for learning the language.

Post #1, welcome to the forum Andy !

"I am open to most places as long as I have to possibility to visit the beach and meet local people for learning the language".

Most of Phuket is fairly near the beach so that is not really an issue, local people to learn the language.......hmm.....so many locals speak English, I mean if you really wanted to immerse yourself you would not choose to live in Phuket.

Why not figure out where you will be in school and find accommodations near the school since that is priority #1? Do you know where you will be studying?

I mean I am open to other places than Phuket too. I have been thinking about Kathu, staying closer to Phuket town, but I am open to other places in Thailand as long as I don't get bored since I go alone.
