Android tablet and 3G dongle

Featured Replies

Hi

I have an Android tablet that only supports 2 G and I believe that's been phased out in Thailand. Would buying a 3G dongle allow me access to the internet?

For the price of a dongle you can buy a new 7inch tablet with dual SIM and the latest operating system. I am sending this from my ASUS KO12 bought from banana IT for less than 4000 THB.

I thought dongles were 1000bht? I dont need a new tablet though but thanks for the suggestion, at this stage I just need to know if a dongle will connect me to mobile internet

If it supports WiFi, you can utilise a MiFi. But they are relatively expensive in Thailand. You can pick them up for equivalent of 1000 baht in the UK,

Exactly model number and brand of tablet?

lenovo ideapad 1000 G

It definitely supports WiFi, so no problem utilising it in conjunction with a MiFi. Utilising it with USB modem/dongle will be problematic as certain modules are missing from the Tablet. You would have to check out the XDA forum to get a USB modem working with the Tablet. Possibly outside your comfort zone.

Example of a 1000 baht MiFi unit in the UK:

Thanks for that, its not a huge deal as there is no shortage of WI FI spots around Thailand so I think I will forget about until my next upgrade
