New Raid in Min Buri Turns up Drugs, Not Bombs

Materials recovered when security forces yesterday raided a second resident in Min Buri believed link the last month's bombing of the Erawan Shrine. The chemicals turned out to be drug precursors.

BANGKOK — Seven gallons of “suspicious materials” police confiscated from a house in a Bangkok suburb yesterday were drug precursors and not bomb components.

Following a lead, investigators raided the residence in Soi Ratcha Uthit 34, near to where an apparent bomb-making operation was discovered Saturday, where they found seven gallon containers (26.5 liters) of chemicals they initially suspected to be for building bombs.

But government spokesman Col. Winthai Suvaree said today in his televised noon update on the investigation that the materials were in fact chemicals for cooking drugs.

“Nevertheless, security officers will continue to investigate the circumstances,” Col. Winthai said.

Investigators said they raided the residence after receiving a report it was connected to the network suspected of being behind the bombing in central Bangkok that killed 20 people on 17 Aug.

Police Lt.Gen. Prawuth Thawornsiri said yesterday the house appeared to have been rented by Wanna Suansan, a Muslim Thai woman who is among nine suspects wanted by police for their alleged connection to the 17 Aug. bombing.

“Ms. Wanna is on the rental contract for this place,” Prawuth said. “We found that individuals connected to the bomb regularly visited the place.”

Liquid seized from rented room of wanted bomb suspect woman is precursor to produce narcotic drugs

BANGKOK: -- The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) says the 7 containers of liquids seized from a rented house of a Thai woman on Rat-uthit 34 road in Minburi wanted for her involvement in the deadly bomb explosion has been tested to be precursor that could be used to produce narcotic drugs.

NCPO spokesman Col Winthai Suvaree said preliminary test of the liquids showed the liquid is a precursor that could be used to produce drugs.

He also said the finger prints examination of the ninth suspect in the two bomb explosions in Bangkok who was arrested at Aranyaprathet border also matched with friends prints that forensic police obtained from bottles which contained explosive materials seized from a rented apartment room in Nong Chok.

This strongly indicated the ninth suspect, Mr Yusufu Mieraili, a Chinese nationality, was involved in the two bombings.

His passport, which has to be verified if it is fake or authentic, said he came from Xinjiang of China.

So look at the pictures again of "Suspect #1", the guy arrested in the apartments.

Actually there are many "shady" organisation/groups that use drug producing/dealing to finance their operation. It's not that unsual.

PS edit for spelling

I know Turkey is sympathetic to the jihadists but I hope there is an international arrest warrant for Wanna and Interpol will go after her ... she should go over the border to ISIS ... she will be a hero over there.

for me more a aids look

Or he didn't went out often...afraid.....

In this episode of Breaking Thai, the police stumble upon Somchai Seh-Cao's yabaa lab . . .

Was it blue and 96 % pure ?

Well......you have to finance all this somehow.

I presume that the RTP have returned all seven of the chemical containers to their owners, since they do not contain bomb making materials.

Sure,with an apology.

so there goes the Chance that girl will hop on the plane with her man back to Thailand

Yes and no wonder she was only thinking about returning clap2.gif

Keep up the good work, report anything suspicious, keep a record of what you see and hear.

These are dangerious time we live in.

Police raid a suspected den of bomb makers and discover an unsuspected den of drug makers... cheesy.gif

Do the police have to give back the 3m baht then now?

The tipster makes drugs & didn't like the competition???

That was my first thought.
