Hi everyone , we will be travelling to thailand in December and staying for 6 weeks . We visit every year around the same time , unfortunately now my son is 8 he gets quite bored and could really do with some company . His Thai is not very good (born and raised in the west) he loves football (soccer) and pretty much all the rest of the things a normal healthy boy has interests in . My wife is 100% fluent in English/Thai so other parents could be Thai or foreigner . If you have kids that would like to hang out we will be in the ban Chang rayong area . Ps and I don't want to sound like a complete moron here but my wife really wouldn't get on with any ex working girls or anything of that type (sorry don't want to offend anyone's lifestyle but better to tell the truth)

The op has stated who his wife would not be comfortable meeting. That is her prerogative. There is nothing that any of you need be offended by, this is not a personal attack on you. So no need to reply.

If you have useful suggestions of where they can meet other families for the 6 weeks in country then please offer them. Otherwise, move along.

I agree with you but who will take a 8 year old out of school

The Son belongs in school

As a family site we must remember education is number one

The op is coming in December when most schools in Europe are closed for a period of 3 weeks over Christmas & New Year, so what someone else decides to do with their own child's education for a couple of weeks off is of no concern of yours.

Thank you Boo I appreciate the common sense . my son currently sits two years above grade level (education is very important) we will be bringing all his school work with us . He actually only missus two weeks of school due to the winter break . I'm not sure why people get so bent out of shape with people looking to meet others that have more in common and share social back grounds. Can you imagine being forced into a friendship with people you have zero in common with other then a language?

Ban Chang has several beaches. Why not spend time there and let kids make friends the old fashioned way, especially on the week end. Also there's an International School as well as an English Program School just a few Km from beaches.

Your obviously from a 'nanny state' that fines parents for taking holidays during term time.

Educations starts at home and I'm sure that this young boy will learn a lot more from his trip to Thailand than a few weeks in an education system driven by statistics and data!! We took our son out of school for six months, when we first moved here. We home schooled him and it was the most wonderful six months of our families lives. When he rejoined school he was, and still is, ahead of his peers in terms of maths, English and science.

Education is no. one but kids learn more from their families(and by traveling) than they ever will, sat in a boring classroom.
