Where can I buy gelatin from in Thailand ?

I have a back problem and gelatin seems to be the only thing that helps with the pain

Are there any manufacturers/suppliers in thailand?

I have bought plain gelatin powder in Makro and Big C. I use it to set the liquor in my pork pies.

The brand is McGarrett - it's in amongst the dried herbs and spices and in a similar glass container.

Is this what you are looking for?

Edit to add: I tried making my own gelatin by boiling down pig trotters and bones, but it was way too much trouble.

gelatin

hyaluronic-acid

and substances said to help with the joints themselves, such as glucosamine and chondrointin sulfate and hyaluronic acid. Knox gelatin has been used for the joints, but it's because of the glucosamine and chondrointin in it and you'll get a lot more of it in supplement form than by eating gelatin. Good luck, and good researching.

I've been taking Great Lakes collagen hydrolyslate ordered from iherb, for the last month which has worked wonders on my back problem

I'm travelling around for a few months so I'm unable to order it again for the time being...

I found a gnc gelatin supplement which worked out to be 800 baht for 30 grams!

So I though as their are a few gelatin manufacturers in Thailand there may also be a local product in the shops

Thanks for your replies!

Does that work? Just cooking it like I would cook a soup.....adding the usual things and having a high gelatin soup? Is it that simple or do I destroy part of it by heating it for a long time?

It does work, for pork pies. I have no idea whether the health benefits are affected - but google has many recipes claiming health benefits.

Thanks for the info, I will look out for the MCgarrets Gelatin...

I'm not sure about agar agar use for joint health though..

no, agar agar, is to moderate the appetite and laxative.

with gelatin, it is taken before breakfast, for 1 month and again after six months.

Honey and cinnamon (powdered or stick) tea in the morning before breakfast, fine.

I found the McGarretts gelatin today in one of the local supermarkets!

does anyone know how much to use for arthritis type pains?

Posted
5 grams of gelatin (2 level teaspoons) mixing the evening in 20 cl of cold water from the refrigerator.

Let stand all the night, without refrigeration, drinking morning fasting.

You can add 3 pinches of cinnamon and a teaspoon of honey.

150 grams (2 vials for a cure of 1 month) do every 6 months. coffee1.gif

Nothing useful here so far. All the links lead to nothing of value for anyone interested in using gelatin for joint health.

There are a few Thai based eBay sellers selling gelatin at 3 times the real price. After some searching, I found a very good option.

iHerb has a NOW brand beef gelatin available. You can fit 3 x 1lb (454g) packets in a shopping cart and get near the $40 for free shipping, and add something small to make it up, bearing in mind there's a 4.0 lb weight limit for shipping to Thailand.

Big c has it in the home supply baking section ..pancake mix area, near the baking soda and powder supplies.

Does it specify pork or beef as the origin? Most likely it will be the pork version.

Thanks! I should have said pig, not pork as they make it from the cartilage, skin and bones, and of course, beef should read bovine, although they do use beef on some gelatin labels.
