It's nice to see the blue sky once in a while.

Great day with perfect weather here on Phuket. Singapore has 258 today. What a big difference.

It was a beautiful evening to let my dog run on the beach.

The haze is growing worse by the hour now as objects start disappearing from view.

We have either monsun rains or this bloody haze.

Anybody using face masks yet?

We have been using face masks on the worst days. Last night was horrible and it didn't help that the locals seemed to be burning trash like crazy.

Today is even worse. I can smell it inside my apartment now and like steelepulse says, it seems to be getting worse by the hr. Can forget about going for a run today.

Never seen it this bad, can not see big Buddha in fact the whole Soi is very hazy, what's causing it?

The air quality index was a low 34 at noon. That cannot possibly be right.

Ah it was just updated to 56 at 1300 hrs.

Here in Kata it seems much worse than 56. It is worse than a couple weeks ago when it was in the 120's.

yes I agree. The wind map shows it coming straight from Indonesia. Do you know this site. It's quite good.

It's REALLY bad right now in Rawai! And getting worse! It smells like burning plastic, but it's not. All the locals are complaining about how bad it is. Indonesia sucks!

If you go here you can see the wind direction and the fire locations: http://fires.globalforestwatch.org/#v=map&x=119&y=1.9&l=5&lyrs=Active_Fires%3AWind_Direction&b=Dark%20Gray%20Canvas&dirty=true

Here is a clip on what is causing it:

Never ever seen it this bad in eleven years of living here.

And, I agree it's been getting worse hour by hour.

Buy masks people. Its going to get worse before it gets better.

Pharmacies are running out.

I started to use a mask today.

basic one, 20 Thai Baht for four pieces.

I have seen some better ones at the pharmacies

I was out and about all today in my open top car and to be honest I found no discomfort in breathing. Yes, to be sure there was a bad sort of plastic burning smell in the air, but I found no need to wear any sort of mask.

You're probably in decent shape. Someone who can't run 30secs(most people) without being out of breath will be struggling right now.

Good car wash weather today, no sun not hot. Cleaned 2 cars by myself today. Felt nothing about the haze only a bit smell.

At least my eyes feel dusty while riding a scooter. I can smell the smoke constantly even while I'm in home.

Therefore it might be a good idea to protect oneself when riding in phuket traffic

I'm not sure a pharmacy paper mask protects in any way against the very thin particles contained in the haze.

Who said anything about paper masks?

Please think before assuming.

But you didn't say anything either about any specialised mask against thin particles like this one.

As it is actually quite hard to find a mask like that in Phuket, it was safe to assume you were misleading other forumers to buy the masks usually sold in pharmacies, such as this

aerokyn-aerokyn-mas01.jpg

or that

The-anti-Itou-Ryoshina-haze-mask-PM2-5-a

which are almost useless against the haze.

If I was wrong and you did find a proper mask, you could have made a little more effort in your post instead of trying to be witty at the first occasion.

Today it's really worse. The haze also reached now the northern rubberlands. Sure no car wash day. Cough cough....

This is insane!

Myself and my Hong Kong expat buddies are evacuating back to Hong Kong this week to escape the pollution.... which is the reason we came to Phuket in the first place!

Insanity!
