I have windiws 8.1 and I just installed Firefox and Daum potplayer.

Now everytime I restart my computer Potplayer wants to be installed

and Firefox wants to be updated.

Never happened to me before.Anyone know how to fix it.

I've actually uninstalled Potplayer, did a disk and regestery clean up and restarted the computer and the box came up "do yo want this program to make changes to this computer.

What next........

Uninstall all that crap, then go to your program files and uninstall all files (leftovers) as well.

Then reboot and you should be fine.

Why don't you upgrade to ten?

P.S. If some file won't uninstall in normal mode, please boot into safe mode.

Not everyone can upgrade there computer to Windows 10 (in my case from 7 on Lenovio) - my ICON still advises to wait for notification - previous attempt to upgrade failed and although restore was 90% effective there were glitches. See no reason for most to upgrade and ride another learning curve (other than to increase Microsoft number of 10 users bragging rights).

Sounds somewhat like a failed install, or a failed cleanup after install.

PS: Avoid windows 10.

iobit uninstaller also has a power clean and catches any left overs from an uninstall ... used it for many years on different OS versions

If you have system restore running, try to restore from an earlier date and uninstall again.

If it still doesn't work, clean all your temporary files and folders, including internet, Check the default location for install is clear of 'left-overs'. Check it hasn't installed as an add-in to your browser.

As it is still asking to be reinstalled, there is obviously something left on your system. You may have to have a look through regedit (WinKey + R, type regedit) to make sure there is nothing left in the registry.

(Make sure you backup the registry before playing with it)

As for Firefox, go to the official download site and install the latest version, that should clear any update errors you are getting at the minute.

Your problem has little or more likely zero to do with what version of windows you are running.

Goto the start menu and type msconfig. When it shows up, right click and select run as administrator.

On the startup tab and uncheck any reference to the program you want to prevent running at boot. ie. the installer for Potplayer.

Alternatively, download and run CCleaner, run that and use the built in start up manager in there.

Right Pomthai........that was it.

Potplayer was still in my start up tap on task manager.

I disabled it and restarted with no problem.

I have Revo and CCleaner.I wanted to uninstall Potplayer

first day with Revo but the icon wasn't showing on it.

This happens with a lot of programs why is this.

My problem was that I had to uninstall with the windows option

and it didn't do it fully.

Firefox is updating on start up even though it updated

the last time I started the computer.

I will probably have to uninstall it and do a full clean up and reinstall.

Thanks all.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you need to reinstall these programs completely before delete.

And as others I use Revo Uninstaller and Ccleaner happily.

Or use Revo Uninstaller to get rid of them.

I'm using The Uninstaller and I think ( means nothing at all) that it's a better one than your outdated Revo, was there, done it.

You can choose the weapon. thumbsup.gif

"the uninstaller" is thaame of the program Lostinsiam.

I must check it out.

I've solved my proplems the only thing I interedted in now is

solveing the problem that not all programs show up on Revo.

Which is why I had these problems in the first place.

Just use the forced uninstall option at the top and delete the folder. Then it scans for all the leftovers to delete.

Goto the start menu and type msconfig. When it shows up, right click and select run as administrator.

Also while there click on the Services tab and see if it's running as a service. If it is, uncheck it.

Next open the startup tab, click into Task Manager and disable it there if it shows as a startup item.

If you have stubborn files that refuse to be deleted, download unlocker, it`s free:

http://unlocker.en.softonic.com/

Once you have deleted other programmes and want to be sure they are completely deleted, go into search. Type the name of the programme or file you want to delete in the search box, click find. If a list of remnants of these programmes or files appear, right click each item on the list and delete.
