New year in Khon Kaen

Hi all, We are going to be spending Xmas and New year in Issan but wanting to spend a week in Khon kaen, I would imagine that Xmas will just be another day In Khon Kaen, So looking at spending a week in Khon kaen, Can anyone tell me what to expect, are the bars any busier and do they celebrate new year.

My wife tells me that some people celebrate for up to 3 days.

Khon Kaen is a favorite place of ours and been there a number of times, hence the reason for new year.

There's usually a big party for the New Year Countdown at the Central Plaza area. Christmas not so much although some places will do Christmas dinner.
